Even as filmmaker Ruben Fleischer is wrapping post-production on next month's Venom, he is also already hard at work on Zombieland 2.

While promoting Venom, Fleischer confirmed the eagerly anticipated sequel to the fan-favorite 2009 horror comedy is currently deep in pre-production with an anticipated start of principal photography this January.

"We're already actually starting Zombieland. I've been scouting and storyboarding and getting it going, and to get to work with that cast again is just an absolute dream come true. It's been really exciting starting to think about that movie, and to get to work with Emma, Jesse, Woody and Abigail once again is truly a dream come true," revealed Fleischer in an interview with Fandango. "We're just at the very early stages, but we have an amazing script, and we're going to start shooting in Georgia in January."

The upcoming sequel will see the surviving characters from the first film navigate a zombie-infested United States with the makeshift family anticipated to encounter evolved forms of the undead as they make their way to the East Coast.
