Darkseid's Boom Tubes take on a whole new role in the pages of DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #2, as they are no longer simply used for transportation -- instead, they are now passageways transporting the deadly Anti-Life Virus.

Big Barda and Mister Miracle discover that Boom Tubes are now called "Doom Tubes" after they nearly step into one early in the issue. They are saved by the Black Racer, the physical manifestation of death in the DC universe, who tells them that the Mother Boxes creating Boom Tubes have all been infected with Anti-Life. Only the dead can pass through these portals, and Darkseid -- in his unliving form -- now uses the Boom Tubes to travel to other worlds and infect them.

What Are Boom Tubes?

Boom Tubes were created by Jack Kirby, who developed Darkseid and the other New Gods of the Fourth World. Debuting in 1971's Forever People #1, the tubes are created by the sentient computers of New Genesis known as Mother Boxes. They allow instant travel between any two linked spaces and have frequently been used by Superman and other members of the Justice League to travel to Darkseid's homeworld of Apokolips. The tubes made several notable live-action appearances in both the 2017 theatrical release and the 2021 Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League, where they were used by Steppenwolf and his troops to travel across the galaxy.

DCeased: War of the Undead Gods is the finale of Tom Taylor and Trevor Hairsine's epic zombie saga. The first DCeased series released in 2019 and showed the results of Darkseid accidentally unleashing a corrupted version of the Anti-Life Equation on Earth, infecting most of the populace and turning them into zombies. DCeased quickly became notable for showing prominent Justice League heroes dying in the resulting war, and DCeased: War of the Undead Gods stars the children and successors of classic DC heroes -- notably, Damian Wayne as Batman, Jon Kent as Superman and Cassie Sandsmark as Wonder Woman.

DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #2 is penned by Taylor, penciled by Trevor Hairsine, inked by Andy Lanning, colored by Rain Beredo and lettered by Saida Temofonte. The issue features cover art by Hairsine and Beredo and variant cover art by Dan Mora, Francesco Mattina, Kael Ngu and Sun Khamunaki. The issue is on sale now from DC.
