Not much is known about Zendaya's character in the joint Sony/Marvel Studios venture "Spider-Man: Homecoming." Early rumors suggested she'd take up the role of Peter Parker's girlfriend Mary Jane Watson. However, that may not be the case; her character's name is reportedly "Michelle," and according to Nerdist, she will hew closer to a character from another iconic film: Alley Sheedy from John Hughes' "The Breakfast Club."

"I always thought of her as being a version of Ally Sheedy in 'The Breakfast Club,' what Linda Cardellini is like in 'Freaks and Geeks,'" director Jon Watts revealed. "It’s just a cool character, and it’s cool for her to be that character I thought. She has a really cool wardrobe, really funny, lots of literary nods."

Along with channeling Alley Sheedy, Zendaya's Michelle will go for a no-frills loner look, skipping makeup for a ponytail, dark clothes, and a stack of textbooks. Even with her loner attitude, Michelle will still find herself as a friend to Tom Holland's Peter Parker.
