At a recent event to promote Spider-Man: Far From Home, Zendaya paid homage to Mary Jane Watson.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe star posted an image of herself sporting the bright red hair for which MJ is known. "Face it, Tiger," she wrote as the caption. That line -- "Face it, Tiger, you've just hit the jackpot" -- was famously said by Mary Jane in The Amazing Spider-Man #42.

Zendaya made her first appearance in the MCU as Michelle Jones in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming. Kevin Feige has said that Zendaya's character is not Mary Jane Watson from the comics, leading some to speculate whether another MJ will appear in a future Spider-Man movie. However, Zendaya's character will fill a similar role as Peter's love interest in Far From Home.

Zendaya will reprise her role in Far From Home, which sends Peter Parker and his friends on a trip to Europe. While there, Spider-Man encounters the monstrous Elementals and the seemingly heroic Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). The film is already on track to have a big opening weekend.

Opening July 2, director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, JB Smoove, Jacob Batalon and Martin Starr, with Marisa Tomei and Jake Gyllenhaal.
