The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is arguably the most bizarre entry in the Zelda series. Stuck in the mysterious Clock Town, Link must brave the treacherous surrounding areas, and time itself, to save the town from an impending cataclysmic event. Majora's Mask is one of the more love/hate titles in the franchise as many fans love the dark and complex narrative while others lament the oppressive time mechanics that, in some ways, turn the game into a roguelike Zelda.

One of the many ways Majora's Mask is unique to the franchise is that it only has four dungeons, which is far less than previous entries. This means that there are only four main bosses on top of the final bosses. Majora's Mask does make this up with a varied cast of mini-bosses, but its main boss total is the fewest in the franchise. Despite this, each of these bosses is varied in their gimmicks, and each poses a challenge to the player.

7 Majora's Incarnation Is A Bizzare Fight Befitting Of A Bizzare Game

Majoras Incarnation

The second phase of the final boss fight is Majora's Incarnation. Majora's Incarnation quickly runs around the boss area while also taking the time to do some dances. It attacks with a series of quick blasts that Link will need to block with his shield.

The strategy for this boss fight is to hit it. If that sounds easy, that's because it is. Link can hit it with his arrows or slash it with his sword when the boss is near. The difficulty of this fight is centered around the boss' fast speed. Despite this, Majora's Incarnation poses little threat, especially if the Boss Remains were dealt with in the previous fight.

6 Odolwa Is Much Easier In The 3DS Version

Odolwa

Odolwa is fought at the end of the Woodfall Temple and is the first boss of the game (not including the simple Skull Kid fight that grants Link the Ocarina). Odolwa comes equipped with a sword and a shield. On top of this, it can spawn spider enemies that Link will have to take care of and use to replenish health.

The main key to fighting Odolwa is, naturally, finding an opening an attack. There are a few ways to go about this. One way is to block its attacks with Link's shield and wait for an opening to strike its legs enough times. Another is to transform into Deku Link, launch up with the Deku Flower, and drop Deku Nuts onto it. In the 3DS version, the dungeon bosses have an obvious weak point depicted as a massive eye, which for Odolwa, Link can attack when the boss is in a vulnerable state. Overall, the 3DS version of Odolwa is much easier than its Nintendo 64 counterpart, though Odolwa wasn't a difficult boss to begin with.

5 Goht Is Such A Fun Fight So Long As You Can Handle The Goron Roll

Goht

Goht is fought at the end of the Snowhead Temple and is the second boss of the game. Link initially finds this boss frozen solid and must thaw the boss by shooting a fire arrow. The fight itself takes place in a narrow, circular, boss area where Goht will run along the track. Link must chase the boss down with Goron Link's roll and hit it with a spiked roll. All the while, Link must avoid obstacles both on the track and those dropped by Goht, which can be very annoying if the player struggles with controlling Goron Link's rolls.

Another way to hit Goht is by firing arrows at it or leaving bombs in its path. Standing by the entrance is a safe way to go about that. Regardless, after a few hits, Goht will fall over, leaving it vulnerable to attacks.

Majora's Mask in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

The game's final boss is split into three phases, each being a unique boss fight in themselves. The first phase is the title mask itself, the Majora's Mask. The key to defeating this boss is simply hitting it from behind. However, it can be tough to find an opening, and when the boss is stunned, it can quickly recover.

This boss does have its own second phase where it summons the mask remains of the previous bosses. These masks float around and are more of an inconvenience. Majora's Mask will fire off a laser, which Link can deflect and hit the other floating masks similar to the Twinrova fight in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. These masks die in one hit with that laser. If they aren't defeated, they will stick around for later fights, so it's best to deal with them as soon as possible.

3 Majora's Wrath Is The Aggressive Final Boss Of The Game

Majora's Wrath

Majora's Wrath is the final boss of both the Majora's Mask fight and the Majora's Mask game itself. Majora's Wrath is easily the most difficult of this final string of bosses. While this boss is simplistic in its nature, its aggressive attacks can make it a very annoying and difficult fight. Majora's Warth utilizes spacing with its devastating whip attacks, which can be difficult to handle if health is already low from the previous fights.

Link must close that distance and slash the boss in its legs. This can be done by hitting the boss with arrows to stun it. However, Majora's Wrath can recover quickly, so time is of the essence. Link can also block whip attacks with the shield to inch his way forward and to decrease the amount of space before stunning it with an arrow.

2 Twinmold Is A Spectacle Of A Fight, Though Much Longer And More Annoying In The 3DS Version

Giant Link fighting Twinmold

Twinmold is fought at the end of the Stone Temple and is the fourth boss of the game. This boss takes the form of two giant flying bugs. The main gimmick of the fight involves Link increasing his size for an epic Kaiju clash. The biggest difference between the N64 and 3DS versions is the fact that, in the 3DS version, Link acquires the Giant Mask during the fight as opposed to prior to the fight. On top of that, Giant Link doesn't have his sword and shield in the 3DS version, hilariously opting for punches. Link also moves slower in this version.

The 3DS version is much more complicated and far longer than the N64 version. In the N64 version, the bosses are mostly a matter of slashing them with your sword while ensuring that Link's magic is full to maintain his size. In the 3DS, the player must hit the blue Twinmold in its weak points with child Link's arrows, exposing its large eye for attacks. Once it dies, Link receives the Giant Mask, which is necessary for the red Twinmold. The red Twinmold must be punched at its sides until it is stunned, which Giant Link is then allowed to grab it, spin it around, and slam it on the ground.

1 Gyorg Is Tough Regardless Of Which Version You Play

Gyorg

Gyorg is fought at the end of the Great Bay Temple and is the game's third boss. Gyorg was a difficult fight prior to the 3DS version, but recieved some much-needed modifications. In the 3DS version, the boss is split into two phases that allow for a more natural split between child Link and Zora Link. In the first phase, Link fires arrows at Gyorg until it's vulnerable and keeps firing at the eye. In the second phase, Gyorg stays underwater and reveals mines. Zora Link must release the mines close to Gyorg while it sucks up water to which it will swallow a mine and stun it.

In the N64 version of the game, the player had to do more juggling between child Link and Zora Link. Child Link would have to safely shoot arrows at Gyorg, and Zora Link would have to jump into the water to do damage when Gyorg is vulnerable. This all can be extremely frustrating, especially with the game's swimming controls and the large amount of damage the boss can cause.
