Zack Snyder's Justice League will be available for digital purchase next month, Snyder himself has confirmed.

On Twitter, Snyder shared a brief video announcing the surprise digital release of his director's cut of Justice League. Those looking to own a standalone digital copy of the DC movie will be able to do so starting Tuesday, July 19.

The fifth film in the DC Extended Universe, Justice League originally released in theaters in November 2017. Snyder directed the film, though stepped down as a result of a family tragedy, with director Joss Whedon being tapped to oversee post-production and reshoots. The theatrical cut of the film was met with mixed reviews, with fans launching the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign in hopes that Warner Bros. would put out a version of Justice League more in line with Snyder's original vision and more tonally consistent with the director's previous DCEU films.

Zack Snyder's Justice League was ultimately released exclusively on the HBO Max streaming service on March 18, 2021. Physical 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray releases followed suit in September. Until now, however, the film has not been available for standalone digital purchase.

The so-called Snyder Cut is twice as long as the theatrical cut of Justice League, clocking in at four hours. As such, the director's cut includes various concepts, scenes and characters that were either de-emphasized or outright excluded from the theatrical version of the film. For example, Zack Snyder's Justice League features a more fleshed out story for Cyborg, Superman donning his black suit and such characters as Iris West, Darkseid and Martian Manhunter, among others. Additionally, all scenes shot under Whedon were removed.

Overall, the Snyder Cut fared considerably better with critics and audiences alike than the theatrical cut did. Currently, Zack Snyder's Justice League holds a 71 percent approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes against Justice League's 39 percent. Additionally, the Snyder Cut has an audience score of 94 percent against the theatrical cut's 68 percent.
