Over two years since its initial release and fans still ponder why Superman simply didn't use his superhuman senses to track down his kidnapped mother instead of caving in to Lex Luthor's demands and battling the Dark Knight in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice's titular climactic bout.
In response to a fan question on the social media platform Vero, director Zack Snyder revealed there was a deleted scene of Superman trying to track down Martha Kent before becoming emotionally overwhelmed and surrendering to Luthor.

"He flies up above the city and hovers," Snyder explained. "The camera begins to rotate around him as he hears the cries of citywide crime going on and, as we get closer, he is in pain because he knows if he [tries] to find her this way, he will have to ignore the countless crimes going on in the two cities and the world."
In the final film, Superman relies on a repentant Batman to find his mother while he recovers from their fight without having extensively attempted to find her himself on screen.

The deleted scene would have carried 2013's Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman's portrayal as Superman as a more emotionally vulnerable figure. While Snyder has since left the DC Extended Universe and Cavill's own future as Superman remains in doubt, it would have been an interesting cinematic moment for the Superman.
