Justice League director Zack Snyder plans on speaking to fellow DC Extended Universe director David Ayer about his director's cut of Suicide Squad.

"I haven't talked to David about it, but I'm sure I will. I know him quite well. I've just been swamped because of COVID, but it's on my list of things to talk to him about," Snyder told the John Doe Movie Reviews YouTube show. "I support any filmmaker who needs to get their version of their movie or their vision seen. I've had such generous support, and I really would hope that other people get that same type of support."

Written and directed by Ayer, Suicide Squad follows a team of villains who are recruited by the government to save the world from Superman-like threats. The film was panned by critics and fans alike and, following its release, reports began to surface that studio interference and forced cuts by Warner Bros. led to the subpar reception. Similar to Snyder's Justice League, fans began to demand a director's version of the film, know now as the Ayer Cut.

While Warner Bros. eventually gave the green light to Snyder Cut and will it as a four-part movie on HBO Max in 2021, there is no official word on if the studio plans to move forward with the Ayer Cut. However, reports suggest that Warner Bros. is in talks to bring the director's vision of the film to HBO Max. Unlike Zack Snyder's Justice League — which is costing the studio upwards of $70 million — The Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad is nearly complete and was even used as a screen test for audiences during the film's development.

Should the Ayer Cut ever see the light of day, fans can expect much more of Jared Leto's Joker, as he was originally supposed to have a much larger part in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) movie. Ayer has also previously teased larger and more fulfilling roles for Harley Quinn and Katana and a stronger connection to Justice League.

Written and directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Floyd Lawton / Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Dr. Harleen Quinzel / Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as the Joker, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as George "Digger" Harkness / Captain Boomerang, Jay Hernandez as Chato Santana / El Diablo, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Waylon Jones / Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara as Tatsu Yamashiro / Katana and Cara Delevingne as Dr. June Moone / Enchantress. It is now available on Digital HD, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra-HD Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray 3D and DVD. It can also be streamed on HBO Max.
