Zack Snyder has given fans a look at his first-ever drawings from 2013's Man of Steel.

Despite stepping away from the DC Extended Universe midway through Justice League, Snyder has continued to gift fans tidbits from his time overseeing the franchise. Posting on Vero, the director shared his first rough sketch of Superman in-costume. It doesn't show a lot of action and looks nothing like Cavill, however, it's clear that Superman is the focus thanks to his iconic costume. Snyder doesn't expand on where about in the movie the scene took place, but it seems to show Kal-El alone in the middle of nowhere.

While Snyder was already known for his work directing the 300 and Watchmen, he had the honor of bringing Superman back to the big screen for Man of Steel. With Cavill leading the movie as the titular hero, Snyder also put the pieces in place for 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and what would eventually become the DCEU.

Cavill and Snyder rebooted Superman following Bryan Singer's Superman Returns. Although Man of Steel served as an origin story for Superman, it jumped between the past and the present to flesh out his backstory, showing fans his transition from being a young boy in Smallville to the fully formed hero with cape and tights. Cavill returned to the role for Batman v Superman and Justice League, and there were plans for him to suit up for a potential Man of Steel 2.

Unlike the critical consensus of Batman v Superman and Justice League, Man of Steel is looked upon as one of the more favorable entries in the DCEU, with many praising the film for its score and visuals. Although Batman v Superman was a sequel of sorts, fans have constantly championed another standalone for Cavill's Superman.

However, even though Man of Steel 2 hasn't come to pass, there are continuing claims that Cavill isn't ready to leave his time as Superman behind him. That said, with Warner Bros. having already recast Ben Affleck's Batman with Robert Pattinson, there's been no movement on someone else playing Superman. Similarly, while it seems Snyder is done with Superman and the rest of the Justice League, his constant Vero posts about the franchise and tease of Justice League's Snyder Cut shows he's not completely finished either.
