In light of the successful campaign for Zack Snyder's Justice League, it seems the director's past works are all being propositioned for similar treatments. However, don't expect to see a Sucker Punch director's cut.

During an online stream with the YouTube channel The Film Junkee, Snyder provided some insight into the likelihood of his other works receiving their own director's cut. When asked about Sucker Punch, he seemed uncertain of how plausible it was that he could even release another version of the movie. He highlighted the complications of movie ownership and how he does not necessarily have the rights to create a director's cut. Specifically, Snyder stated that he thinks that "there is a conflict, if we generate another version of the movie, while that movie has been sold."

Sucker Punch is a 2011 action/fantasy with the director's signature cinematic styling. Ignoring realism in order to present a more fantastical, physics-defying thrill, the action of the movie toys with the surreal. The psychological aspects of the movie are interwoven with the fantasy in order to create the unique world Baby Doll escapes to.

During the production, the original intent to release it as an R-rated film was ultimately overturned in favor of a PG-13 rating. As a consequence, Synder was forced to cut various scenes in order to comply with the new rating. This censorship is said to have cost the film a variety of important scenes. Ultimately, the film was not very well received, scoring low critically and with audiences.

Even so, it seems the intrigue behind what could have been still has some fans curious about a director's cut. However, even though Snyder himself seems passionate about the film, remedying it with a director's cut simply seems out of his hands. In the interview, he reiterated that "we don't have that material now." He went on to stress he isn't entirely certain how it works, but there is "an amount of time that they have access to that for. At some point that time ends…"
