Director Zack Snyder recently shared his favorite aspects of Wonder Woman 1984.

While discussing Justice League's upcoming release on HBO Max, Snyder shared what made Patty Jenkins' film so enjoyable in an interview with ComicBook Debate. Ultimately, it was the world of Themyscira and Steve Trevor's (Chris Pine) return that he recalled with praise.

"I love the Themyscira opening," he said. "I thought that was really fun. I love that world, the world of Themyscira. I find it really fascinating. I find it really interesting so anything that happens in Themyscira, I'm down with 100%."

Snyder also praised how the story included Steve Trevor's character. "I really liked Steve in the movie. I thought when he comes back and -- Chris Pine is amazing and the role is perfect and he's perfect in it -- you're able to go on this roller coaster ride with Diana where everything comes flushing back in this really intense and incredible way," Snyder said. "And you see that everything that happened between the first Wonder Woman and this movie -- and certainly she's done amazing things in the time between -- to have this one secret wish for her, it's personal. It makes her really relatable and incredibly real."

"Whenever I see this part of the movie, I always get teary—like good, excited tears," Gadot said in a prior interview about Wonder Woman 1984's Themyscira scene. "And I think it's so important -- and of course it's ultra-important for me because I'm a mother of two girls -- to show them the potential of what they can be. And it doesn't necessarily mean that they have to be athletic or physically strong -- that too -- but that they can be bigger than life."

Zack Snyder's Justice League is set to premiere on HBO Max in March 2021. Snyder's cut of Justice League will primarily show Diana Prince/Wonder Woman as a loner who "has to be incorporated into a team setting." He also shared a portion of her arc within a prior interview, noting that "she looks forward to the future [and asks] what is her place? And is it time to think about what she left behind in Themyscira?"

Directed and co-written by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film is now in theaters and streaming on HBO Max.
