Zack Snyder Reveals First Poster for 300: Rise of an Empire

Zack Snyder wasn't satisfied releasing one buzz-worthy piece of film marketing Tuesday. About an hour after the three-minute trailer for Man of Steel saw the light of day, he took to Twitter to reveal the first poster for director Noam Murro's 300: Rise of an Empire.

Formerly known as 300: The Battle of Artemisia, Rise of an Empire takes place concurrently with the original film and finds Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) leading a group of common-man soldiers against Artemisia (Eva Green) in a naval battle against the Persian forces. Rodrigo Santiago reprises his role as Xerxes.

Written by Snyder and Kurt Johnstad, 300: Rise of an Empire also stars Joel Edgerton, Jamie Blackley and Jack O’Connell. It opens Aug. 2.
