Zack Snyder has finally responded to the fan-driven #SellTheSnyderverseToNetflix movement while expressing admiration for DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn and Warner Bros. Discovery.

"Amazing to learn that my influence over those things is very small," Snyder said in an interview with Film Junkee. "It'd be amazing if, you know, whatever control over the IP exists, I don't... that's not my part, that's not my role. As they say, above my pay grade."

The filmmaker also shared how supportive Warner Bros. Discovery has been of his upcoming Full Circle event, a fan convention featuring screenings of Snyder's most famous films, with the proceeds going toward mental health and suicide prevention in honor of his late daughter, Autumn, who died by suicide in March 2017. "Warner Bros., as far as this screening event is concerned, have been incredible. This group now is beyond, beyond kind and caring and personal, and they've been amazing working with them, so I have no complaints," he said. "Beyond that, as far as the creative goes and what they're planning, I honestly have been busy shooting this movie [Rebel Moon]. I have no idea what they're up to."

Snyder and Gunn Trade Compliments

On the topic of DC Studios boss James Gunn, Snyder added, "You know James is, look, James is a buddy. I mean James wrote Dawn of the Dead. I don't know if you're aware of that." Since Gunn took over as the co-CEO of DC Studios in November 2022, many Snyder supporters have taken to attacking him on social media. Snyder fans recently accused Gunn of undermining Snyder's Full Circle announcement by sharing the news that he would be directing Superman: Legacy on the same day. Despite these attempts to pit the former collaborators against each other, Gunn and Snyder have voiced nothing but support and respect for one another and their future creative endeavors.

In November 2022, shortly after Gunn took over as the co-head of DC Studios, Snyder offered well-wishes for the filmmaker-turned-executive and his team. "I'm just wishing them all the best and hoping they make some cool movies," he said. In February, Gunn revealed that Snyder had reached out once again to share his support while returning the favor by praising Snyder's character. "He contacted me to express his support about my choices," Gunn said. "He's a great guy."

In addition to Snyder's upcoming Full Circle event, which will include screenings of films like Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League between April 28-30, fans of the director can look forward to his next offering, the Netflix-backed sci-fi epic Rebel Moon. Snyder recently revealed the next installment of his Army of the Dead franchise, titled Planet of the Dead, has been put on hold while he finishes Rebel Moon Parts 1 and 2, which includes putting together R-rated cuts of both films.

Rebel Moon Part 1 hits Netflix on Dec. 22, with a planned limited release before it lands on the streamer.
