Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice writer-director Zack Snyder and Netflix are joining forces to create an as-yet untitled anime series based on Norse mythology.

Snyder will create the series alongside Justice League Dark director Jay Oliva. Both will executive produce, while Oliva also serves as showrunner and director. Snyder and Oliva previously collaborated on live-action projects like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, 300: Rise of an Empire and Man of Steel.

"Zack Snyder's innovation in visual storytelling has pushed the industry forward and established him as one of the most distinctive filmmakers of his generation," John Derderian, head of Anime programming for Netflix, said in a statement. "We are beyond excited to partner with him and his exceptional team to bring the iconic characters and stories of Norse mythology to life in his inimitable style."

Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller will also produce through Stone Quarry Animation, their production company’s newest venture with Oliva.

Snyder and Oliva's new Netflix series does not yet have a title or a release date. It will join fellow Netflix-produced anime series like ULTRAMAN, Aggretsuko, Castlevania and Devilman Crybaby.
