Although there is plenty of hype surrounding the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League, the cast of 2017's superhero ensemble apparently won't be returning for reshoots ahead of the Snyder Cut's release on HBO Max.

According to The Wrap, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and the rest won't be suiting up and stepping back in front of the camera. Umberto Gonzalez explained, "There's not going to be any reshoots of any kind with any actors. It's just additional dialogue." He then revealed, "Here's something that hasn't been reported yet: [Snyder] did want to shoot and he wanted to do additional photography but HBO Max said no, that's not happening." Snyder wanted to film new footage but the studio told him, "We'll give you money for post-production, for special effects, for scoring, and even ADR but no reshoots of any kind on this movie."

While Snyder has promised something new with the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League, it looks like he will have to make use of what he shot before he was forced to step away from Justice League in May 2017. Even though Whedon reportedly added an additional 80 pages to the script and altered the movie's ending in Russia, Snyder's version was reportedly around 90 percent complete when he left Justice League, meaning there should be plenty of material to work with. Although HBO Max will be investing an estimated $30 million at the Snyder Cut, it appears most of the budget will be going on VFX.

Since Justice League's release, there has been a slow trickle of cut scenes and storylines that Snyder was going to include. As well as the major inclusion of Ray Porter as Darkseid, Iris West, Ryan Choi/Atom, Elias Stone and Nuidis Vulko were all cut. There was also going to be more from Lex Luthor and Deathstroke, while the major reveal that Man of Steel's General Swanwick was actually Martian Manhunter would have also bolstered the future ranks of the Justice League.

Sadly, for those expecting the Snyder Cut to resurrect the idea of the DC Extended Universe and Snyder's plan for a trilogy of Justice League movies, Gonzalez also reported that it's a case of "one and done." Snyder originally mapped out a five-movie arc that started with Man of Steel and was going to end with Justice League 3 - including the death of Affleck's Batman. Either way, work on Zack Snyder's Justice League is well on the way as it heads toward its 2021 release. Snyder is already looking toward the Snyder Cut's first trailer.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Zack Snyder's Justice League will premiere exclusively on HBO Max in 2021.
