Zack Snyder has revealed more details about his original ending for Justice League.

Asked on the social media platform Vero about a shot included in the Justice League Blu-ray extras, Snyder casually revealed the scene is of the heroes gazing up into an arriving Boom Tube at the end of the film. Although Boom Tubes are used in the 2017 feature, no sequence matches the framing of this shot.

That aligns with earlier reports that suggested the original ending was intended as a set-up for a sequel, namely by formally introducing Darkseid. Instead, Justice League ended on a more optimistic note, and only teased the arrival of the ruler of Apokolips.

According to those reports, the finale was changed when Joss Whedon succeeded Snyder as director.

Snyder, who also directed Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, initially envisioned a film-movie arc, with Justice League only being part of a larger story. When Snyder departed Justice League in May 2017, in the wake of a family tragedy, it fell to Whedon to oversee extensive reshoots. That has led to persistent calls by fans for Warner Bros. to release a "Snyder cut," despite little apparent interest from the studio, and uncertainties as to whether there's enough footage for such an alternate edit to even exist.
