Zack Snyder and Harry Lennix have teased Martian Manhunter's larger role in Zack Snyder's Justice Leauge after the character was cut from the movie's theatrical release in 2017.

Posting on Twitter, Lennix shared a shot of General Swanwick from Man of Steel alongside the caption, "Re: Justice League and the Snyder cut... Things don't Just happen--things happen Just." Snyder picked this up and shared in on Vero with the cryptic promise that Martian Manhunter is "watching over them all." It's unclear whether Snyder had planned Lennix's role to be anything more than just a brief cameo where he revealed he was J'onn J'onzz is disguise.

While Snyder has been slowly sharing snippets of his planned Snyder Cut since Justice League first hit screens, one of his biggest reveals was that Man of Steel's General Swanwick was going to be revealed as Martian Manhunter with a Justice League cameo.

The idea of Martian Manhunter watching over the team would explain how he comes to join the Justice League but not why he didn't choose to fight with them against Steppenwolf. It's been confirmed that Ray Poter's Darkseid will be reinstated for the Snyder Cut, but as of yet, Martian Manhunter's role is far from official.

Early on in the marketing campaign, Justice League went with the tagline of "Unite the Seven," which led fans to believe there would be seven members of the team. Warner Bros. quickly rebranded this and said it was always supposed to be for James Wan's Aquaman and uniting the seven seas. However, if Martian Manhunter was in Justice League, there would've been a full roster of seven, and it's no secret that Snyder had planned a five-movie arc that started with Man of Steel and was supposed to end with Justice League 3.

Reports have already suggested the cast won't be back for reshoots, meaning whatever Lennix originally filmed will likely be the only footage of Swanwick/Martian Manhunter that will be included in the Snyder Cut. However, Snyder has already teased something big for the Lanterns.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Zack Snyder's Justice League will premiere exclusively on HBO Max in 2021.
