Justice League director Zack Snyder shared an extended version of the epilogue's Knightmare scene that brings back the cut "we live in a society" moment from the trailer.

Snyder tweeted a clip of the scene that interweaves moments from the final cut of the film with dialogue that was left of the cutting room floor. He also included a link to Thirty Second to Mars' Spring page, where fans can purchase either a "we live in a society" t-shirt or hoodie, with 50% of the proceeds going to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (Thirty Seconds to Mars is the band co-founded by Joker actor Jared Leto).

The second trailer for Zack Snyder's Justice League featured Leto's Joker saying "we live in a society," a clear nod to Joaquin Phoenix's version of the character from Joker. However, the line wound up not making it into the final cut of the film. "There's a second ending of the movie, of the Jared Leto scene, just slightly different. I included that line," Snyder explained in March. "I just thought it's cool, the 'live in a society' thing's cool, and maybe one day we'll all see it. But I also did very much like the broken, the tricked, the vulnerable Joker that you see in the movie. It's a trade-off of not getting the vulnerable Joker, you get the line and one other idea."
