Zack Snyder shared a new image of Batman in his Knightmare outfit from the director's upcoming cut of Justice League.

The photo, which Snyder uploaded to his Vero account, shows the Caped Crusader wearing the same gear he did in the Knightmare sequence from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, Snyder didn't provide any context for where this moment fits into his version of Justice League.

Justice League Snyder Cut - Knightmare Batman

Batman v. Superman's Knightmare scene revolved around a dream/vision Bruce Wayne had of a future in which Darkseid and his Parademon army have laid waste to Earth. What's more, Lois Lane is seemingly dead and Superman is the leader of Darkseid's forces, having been corrupted by the Anti-Life Equation.

The Knightmare sequence concluded with Barry Allen/The Flash reaching out to Bruce, telling him Lois is the key to saving the world. However, the theatrical cut of Justice League dropped this thread and nearly every mention of Darkseid save for one, focusing instead on Steppenwolf as the primary threat. Snyder's R-rated cut of Justice League will restore these elements, with the director hinting Victor Stone/Cyborg will have a similar vision of Darkseid controlling Superman at some point in the film.

In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.

Zack Snyder's Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. The film will premiere exclusively on HBO Max on Thursday, March 18.
