Zack Snyder's Justice League actor Wayne T. Carr opened up about having his role as the Green Lantern Corps' John Stewart cut from the movie.

"[Snyder] said, 'We're going to shoot it, we'll see what the studio says,'" Carr told LightCast. "This is kind of crazy because we shot it in what I'm going to call 'Driveway Studios.' He called me after he showed it to everyone, I think it was the second time because they had watched it in parts. He was like, 'They're not letting me do this thing.'"

Snyder's original plan was to end Justice League with Stewart and his fellow Green Lantern Kilowog paying Batman/Bruce Wayne a visit. However, after Warner Bros. fought him on including this version of the movie's final scene, Snyder said he "made a deal with them" to replace the two characters with Martian Manhunter instead. "When I saw the full vision, I went through the journey like everybody went through the journey," Carr added. "Towards the end I realized, 'Ugh. I'm not a part of this. Darn.'"

Fans eventually got a glimpse of what might've been when Zack Snyder's Justice League concept artist Jojo Aguilar revealed his artwork of Carr as John Stewart. "The thing that kind of just warmed my heart was once all of the concept art and stuff started to drop, it's been nothing but love from the fans, man," Carr explained. "Like, I wasn't even in the movie, and I'm just getting positive feedback from people and support. It's super crazy. It's absolutely crazy, but I love it."

HBO Max is currently working on a live-action Green Lantern series that includes John Stewart and Kilowog, presumably explaining why Warner Bros. didn't want Snyder to use them in his cut of Justice League. For the time being, the studio has yet to reveal who will be portraying the characters on the show.

Zack Snyder's Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ray Porter as Darkseid, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. The film is now streaming on HBO Max.
