Unlike the film's theatrical cut, Zack Snyder's Justice League will leave the door wide-open for additional sequels to Snyder's DC Extended Universe (DCEU) saga.
Snyder confirmed his version of Justice League was designed to set up "two more movies," describing its ending to IGN as a "massive cliffhanger." The director didn't change much for his upcoming four-hour cut of the film, either. "It hints, as you would, at a potential other world. I'd plant the seeds as I had wanted to of what would come in the later films. That's in there, but as far as those stories, that would be to come if ever that happened -- which it does not look like it would," Snyder added.
This isn't the first time Snyder has indicated his relationship with Warner Bros.' DCEU will end up with the release of his Justice League cut on HBO Max. "The reality is, as far as I know, there's no interests and/or appetite to do more of these movies from Warner Bros. with me anyway," he recently explained, essentially ruling out the possibility of Zack Snyder's Justice League 2 or any other projects that directly continue his vision for DC's cinematic universe.
Despite this, Justice League stars Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot are slated to reprise their roles as Arthur Curry/Aquaman and Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in James Wan's Aquaman 2 and Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 3, respectively. Ezra Miller will similarly return as Barry Allen/Flash in the superhero's upcoming solo film, which is finally heading into production after years of going through an ever-changing roster of writers and directors. Ben Affleck will also reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman for what The Flash's director Andy Muschietti described as "a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie."
