Zack Snyder is ‘Helping Out’ on Solo “Aquaman” Film, Says James Wan

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” hit theaters only last weekend, but the gears are already turning on the subsequent films in the expanded DC Cinematic Universe. According to director James Wan, “Batman v Superman” director Zack Snyder is currently helping out on Wan’s solo “Aquaman” film.

“Well, I think the story that I would like to tell is still at the end of the day my story,” Wan told CinemaBlend. “And that’s what’s cool with Zack [Snyder], is that he’s actually very respectful of that. He’s actually helping me out in some ways with certain things that he’s doing with his [films] so that I can have better groundwork with the standalone Aquaman story.”

Director James Wan Promises a Fun “Aquaman” Film

“Aquaman” is part of Warner Bros.’ burgeoning DC Comics-based film franchise, which started in 2013 with “Man of Steel.” The film stars Jason Momoa, who debuted in the role in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” According to a previous report, the film will “focus on Aquaman as a reluctant ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis who is caught between land dwellers that are always polluting the globe and his own people who are ready to invade the surface.”

Additionally, Momoa will likely star in both “Justice League” films, which are scheduled for 2017 and 2019. The solo “Aquaman” film is scheduled to premiere on July 27, 2018.

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” — the next DC Cinematic Universe installment — is now playing in theaters.
