Director Zack Snyder commemorated his time working with Henry Cavill following a report that the actor is leaving the role of Superman in the DC Extended Universe.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news today that Cavill will exit the DCEU after negotiations broke down over a potential cameo in Shazam! Cavill's manager and Warner Bros. cast some doubt on the reports veracity, but the studio's statement did little to clarify the future of Cavill or the Superman franchise. “While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.”

Following the initial report, Snyder turned to his preferred social media platform Vero, where he shared a storyboard from 2013's Man of Steel, accompanied by the comment, "It's not an 'S,'" a reference to a scene in the film in which Superman explains to Lois Lane that the emblem on his suit is the Kryptonian symbol for hope.

Snyder cast Cavill in Man of Steel, and reunited with the actor for 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017's Justice League.

There are reportedly conflicting accounts as to why negotiations between Cavill and Warner Bros., with one source suggesting it was a matter of scheduling, while another pointed to the studio’s desire to reboot the DCEU.
