Netflix has unleashed a new set of character posters for Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead.

The posters highlight the various human characters from Snyder's action/horror movie, in addition to one of the film's zombies. They're also full of incredibly bright shades and deeply saturated colors, unlike much of the director's previous output (especially his DC Extended Universe movies).

Dave Bautista stars in Army of the Dead as Scott Ward, a veteran of the zombie war who puts together a team of mercenaries to break into Las Vegas -- which was quarantined off from the rest of the world after being overrun by zombies -- and steal $200 million from an abandoned casino before the city is destroyed in order to contain the zombie plague. Ella Purnell costars in the film as Scott's daughter Kate, with Omari Hardwick (Power), Theo Rossi (Luke Cage), Raúl Castillo (Looking) and comedian/actor Tig Notaro among those playing the members of Scott's heist squad.

Snyder, who made his feature directing debut on 2004's Dawn of the Dead remake, previously teased some of the more unique elements of Army of the Dead's new zombie mythology. For example, the film will feature what the director has referred to as "robot zombies," along with two types of regular zombies: Shamblers, which are more traditional, slower-moving zombies, and Alphas, which are more organized and move faster.

"The Alphas, I sort of think of them like wolves or pack animals that can work as a team," Snyder explained. "Zeus [Richard Cetrone] is their main guy, and the Zombie Queen [Athena Perample] of course, they have this kind of primitive way of communicating. I'm not even sure how it works, but it's very much from the animal kingdom. They're one with nature if you will."

Because the Alphas are essentially self-aware, Snyder hinted they might even be more heroic than some of Army of the Dead's humans. "[I] wanted to create this moral ambiguity about whether or not humans that we love in the movie crossed a line," he said. "Was there a thing that they did to the Alphas, when the Alphas were minding their own business? And therefore, do the Alphas have [the] moral high ground?"

Directed and co-written by Zack Snyder, Army of the Dead stars Dave Bautista, Garret Dillahunt, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Raúl Castillo, Tig Notaro, Theo Rossi and Ana de la Reguera. The film will release on Netflix May 21.
