Shazam! will be introduced to the DC Extended Universe in 2019, and star Zachary Levi has revealed which DC hero he'd love to see show up in the upcoming film. Levi said in a recent interview that his dream cameo would be Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot.
“I think getting a cameo from anybody would be super cool, but I just think Gal Gadot is so effervescent," Levi said in an interview with ET. "She has such a charm. And she seems like a really cool broad. Like, she was in the Israeli army. She's a mom. And I'm like, 'You seem like you're grounded and cool, and you're Wonder Woman, and you rock.’"
Levi went on to explain how he envisioned the two characters interacting onscreen:
“And I think it would be really funny to have the 14-year-old Billy Batson inside of Shazam that's really awkward around this beautiful Amazonian. I just think that would be really awesome.”
Wonder Woman is the only undeniable success to come out of the DCEU thus far, so it's only right that she's in demand to boost the appeal of other movies in the shared universe.
Levi previously described Shazam! as the movie Big, but with superpowers. The 1988 film saw the main 12-year-old character magically transformed into an adult. Levi's description makes more sense in the context of Billy Batson and his superheroic, adult counterpart.
Set to shoot from February through May in Toronto, Ontario, the DC Extended Universe film was originally intended to star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as longtime Shazam! foe Black Adam, until it was revealed the character would instead feature in his own solo film.
Directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemk, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi as Shazam (formerly Captain Marvel), Asher Angel as Billy Batson, and Mark Strong as the villain Doctor Sivana. Grace Fulton (Annabelle: Creation) has also been cast in an unknown role. The movie is scheduled to begin filming in February ahead of an April 5, 2019 release date.
