community alum and walking dead mega-fan yvette nicole brown will be the interim host of the walking dead-related specials and after-shows on amc in the midst of sexual assault allegations made against previous host chris hardwick. she will effectively takeover as host of amc's talking dead when the series resumes next month.

the cable channel announced friday:

yvette nicole brown will step in as an interim guest host of the walking dead season 9 preview special on august 5 and talking dead when it returns following the premiere of fear the walking dead on august 12, as we work to complete our assessment related to chris hardwick.

this announcement comes just over a week after amc announced yvette nicole brown would be hardwick’s replacement as moderator of hall h’s the walking dead panel at comic-con international in san diego, happening next week.

these changes resulted from actor and cosplayer chloe dykstra’s penned letter revealing the emotional and sexual abuse from chris hardwick, her ex boyfriend, last month on medium.com. although hardwick responded shortly after dykstra’s letter hit the web and denied the allegations, amc was quick to drop hardwick from moderating its walking dead panel and bbc’s doctor who presentation at comic-con to avoid backlash from their audience and give the network time to investigate this troubling situation further.

while chris hardwick fans are calling for his return to talking dead, many are applauding amc’s decision to have yvette nicole brown fill in as a guest host during this time, considering she has been a guest on the popular after-show and showcases her intense fandom for the walking dead.

the walking dead panel, now moderated by yvette nicole brown, is scheduled for july 20 at comic-con, featuring walking dead stars andrew lincoln, danai gurira, melissa mcbride, jeffrey dean morgan and norman reedus, fear the walking dead stars kim dickens, alycia debnam-carey, colman domingo and lennie james, executive producers anne hurd and robert kirkman, and new walking dead showrunner angela kang.
