The Zodiac has fascinated human beings for centuries. For a good reason, astrology has a way of drawing people in with its (sometimes) accurate explanations about what makes people tick. It is no surprise that fans of certain properties have also utilized astrology to explain their favorite characters, thus making them feel closer to them.

The astrological sign being explored this time is Aries. Based on the ancient Greek god of war, people born under the Aries sign are strong-willed, courageous, adventurous, and bold. An Aries can be confident and determined, which are both positive traits, but they can also be impulsive and impatient when it comes to the negative. One character in the famed Yu Yu Hakusho anime series exhibits pretty much all of the tell-tale signs of Aries, and that is Yusuke Urameshi, the main lead.

Yusuke's birthday is March 26th, placing him smack dab under the Aries sign and his personality fits it to a tee. At the beginning of YuYu Hakusho, Yusuke was a common punk and a total delinquent before becoming a spirit detective. He was known to ditch school, get into fights, and cause a riff-raff wherever he went. Coming from a broken home, without a doubt, caused a lot of his rambunxious behavior to rear its head, but being an Aries adds to his headstrong nature, which authority figures would have a hard time dealing with.

Those are just the negative traits of Aries that Yusuke exhibits though. What about his positive traits? Yusuke may be a punk at times, but he also has a strong sense of justice and a willingness to use his bullheaded nature to help the needy such as cheering up a child in the first episode. When a small neighborhood boy plays recklessly near traffic, Yusuke chides him for it in an aggressive manner, but when he sees the boy become sad, he cheers him up with funny faces and a goofy dance. Despite the onlookers whispering amongst themselves at Yusuke's impulsive behavior, Yusuke ignores them and dives head forward into whatever he is doing at the moment.

People born under Aries are known for being action-oriented and not caring what others think. This is especially true later on when Yusuke saves that very same boy by diving into oncoming traffic, jumping without giving it a second thought to push him out of the way. Yusuke is a textbook Aries if there ever was one.

But the similarities to the Aries astrological sign do not stop there. What about his romantic life? Many people use astrology to answer questions about romance, such as who they will marry and what sign they are most compatible with. Yu Yu Hakusho makes no allusions about how Yusuke and his childhood friend turned love interest, Keiko, feel about one another. Keiko was born on January 31st, which makes her an Aquarius.

Individuals born under the Aquarius sign are of the air element and Aries are a fire element. When it comes to romance, Aquariuses might feel most at home with others born under air signs, but the fiery personality of an Aries is also a good match. Yusuke and Keiko balance each other out, and the series shows us how much of a good match they can be for each other when Yusuke learns to calm his assertive Aries nature.

Whether beating up fellow punks, saving the world from spiritual danger, or arguing with his friends, Yusuke Urameshi is also shown to be courageous and kind. Aries people can be a handful, but they can also be a great source of strength for those around them, and Yusuke is no exception.
