The creator of popular romance drama series Your Lie in April will be launching a new manga series.

Naoshi Arakawa announced on his Twitter account on Tuesday that he would be creating a new series entitled Atwight Game. However, this may not be the official English title. Arakawa's serial career began with his debut series A School Frozen in Time, a manga adaptation of Mizuki Tsujimura's novel, which ran from 2007 to 2009 in Monthly Shōnen Magazine. His second series was in 2009 and was called Sayonara, Football, where it received a nomination in the shōnen category at France's Mangawa Award. He later wrote a sequel called Farewell, My Dear Cramer in 2016. The manga series received an anime adaptation which aired in 2021.

His most popular series to date is Your Lie in April (Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso), originally a one-shot he submitted to a competition. In 2011, the one-shot became the music drama series, which it's known for today, and won Best Shōnen Manga at the 37th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2013. Yui Tokiumi wrote a light-novel spin-off with Arakawa doing the illustrations called Your Lie in April: A Six Person Etude, which retold the main series through six different perspectives. In 2016, a spin-off called Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso: Coda received publication in tankōbon format.

Your Lie in April Is a Poignant, Inspiring Anime and Manga

The story of Your Lie in April follows a boy named Kōsei Arima, a piano prodigy who has not touched the piano in a few years after the death of his mother. His world gets turned upside down when he meets a free-spirited violinist Kaori Miyazono who doesn't play music according to the scores, which is a huge contrast to Kōsei, who does everything down to the smallest detail. Throughout their time together, the two of them get closer, where he slowly falls back in love with music and inadvertently falls in love with Kaori.

The Your Lie in April anime premiered in 2014, with the series produced by A-1 Pictures receiving 22 episodes. An OVA entitled Moments was released and focused on Kōsei, Kaori and Takeshi when they were younger and how Kaori and Takeshi's rivalry first began. A live-action adaptation was produced in 2016, starring Suzu Hirose (A Morning of Farewell) and Kento Yamazaki (Alice in Borderland). A stage musical was set to run in 2020 with Frank Wildhorn as the composer but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Performances later ran in May 2022.
