Young Justice is going to fight two other major superhero ensembles in Dark Crisis.

During the team's tie-in miniseries for the event, Robin (Tim Drake), Superboy (Kon-El) and Impulse (Bart Allen) are transported to a dreamworld much like their own. However, this reality is going to become quite a nightmare for the young heroes once they begin to resist it. As revealed by the Sept. 2022 solicitations for DC Comics, in Dark Crisis: Young Justice #4, this dreamworld begins to battle the three heroes by sending both the Justice League and Teen Titans after them.

  • Young Justice against the world! The fake reality that Superboy, Impulse, and Robin are trapped in has completely turned against them, sending the full force of the JLA and the Titans they grew up with against them. It will take all of their combined might to fight through this onslaught and find out who is responsible for their imprisonment. Meanwhile, Wonder Girl, Arrowette, and Red Tornado head to San Francisco’s Titans Island in search of assistance, but all they find are bad memories.

The issue's main cover by artist Max Dunbar shows Robin, Superboy and Impulse up against their mentors -- Batman, Superman and the Flash -- along with many others, including Wonder Woman, Nightwing, Donna Troy, Plastic Man and Lobo. Something to note about the artwork is that the Titans and Leaguers shown appear as they did during the '90s and early 2000s era of DC Comics. Characters like Steel, Green Lantern Kyle Rayner and Connor Hawke are also present, and Aquaman has his harpoon hand recognizable from that comic era.

This time period holds a special meaning for Young Justice, being that the team first appeared in 1998. The upcoming miniseries will bring back the original trio that the team began as, though other members like Cassie Sandsmark/Wonder Girl and Arrowette will also be present. Robin, Superboy and Impulse did team up ahead of the Dark Crisis title though in DC Pride: Tim Drake Special #1.

Before now, the last Young Justice series was helmed by writer Brian Michael Bendis and ran from 2019 through 2020, lasting 20 issues. Aside from the Dark Crisis miniseries, no new title with the team has been announced, though two of its members will be getting solo series of their own. In addition to Young Justice #4, the September solicitations reveal that Tim Drake: Robin #1 will kick off a brand-new ongoing series for the character.

Meanwhile, Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow recently won DC's 2022 Round Robin tournament, meaning a new miniseries starring Kon-El will arrive in the future. The title beat out 15 other pitched series in a fan vote, including other popular picks like Suicide Squad: Dark, Constantine & The Demon: Vacation from Hell and Green Lantern: The Light at the End of Forever.

Dark Crisis: Young Justice #4 is written by Meghan Fitzmartin, with interior art by Laura Braga, main cover art by Max Dunbar and a variant cover by Serg Acuña. The issue goes on sale Sept. 20 from DC Comics.
