When people think about teen heroes, they often look at them as relatively weak compared to their adult counterparts. After all, the strongest super-teams like the Avengers and the Justice League should be where all the heavy hitters are. But as with many things, perception isn't necessarily the reality.

Young Justice comprises heroes from the middle generation. They're not the Titans, but they're not old enough to be in the Justice League. Yet, this group hosts some of DC's strongest heroes. Some rely on super-strength alone to be an effective hero, while others turn to a variety of impressive talents.

10 Robin Has Peak Human Strength

Robin miniseries issue #3 by Chuck Dixon. Tim Drake from Teen Titans using a sling.

For the first half of Young Justice's existence, Tim Drake was the leader of the team. He earned this position not through physical strength, but through his experience as a leader and his ability to keep calm in battle. Aside from that, Robin didn't possess any special powers.

Robin received extensive training from several of the greatest martial artists to have ever lived. While Robin surpassed the rest of the team in terms of intelligence and overall tactical ability, he still needed help from his super-powered colleagues to get the job done.

9 Empress Relies On Her Teleportation And Mind Control Powers

Empress leaps through a window and brandishes her sword.

While Empress might have one of the most ridiculous civilian names of all time, there's no denying her training. She fought her way out of Apokolips with a level of skill that even impressed the Female Furies. She didn't have super-strength, but she did wield magic powers.

At one point, Empress possessed a part of the Anti-Life Equation. These two elements granted her the gift of teleportation and the ability to control people's minds. Even though she's far from the most dangerous Young Justice member, she proved herself in situations where the powerhouses had fallen.

8 Amethyst Creates Objects Made Of Hard Light To Fight With

Amethyst of Gemworld prepares to cast magic in DC Comics

Amy Winston, also known as Amethyst, had no connection to Young Justice in their original incarnation. While searching for Superboy, the team was transported to Gemworld, Amy's new home. Amy briefly joined the team and proved to be invaluable, helping them make it off of Gemworld.

Unlike most Young Justice members, Amethyst's not gifted with super-strength. However, she can create objects made of hard light which serve as weapons. She's also a gifted combatant, trained from the time she was a child to become the future ruler of her new homeworld.

7 Ray Moves At The Speed Of Light And Generates Blasts Of Pure Energy

The Ray poses in several Young Justice comic strips.

By the time Young Justice came along, the Ray already gained experience as a superhero. Rather than being a member of the Titans, he'd joined up with both the Justice Society of America and the Justice League. He battled against some of the DC Universe's most dangerous villains, like Vandal Savage and Dr. Polaris.

The Ray had nothing to do when Young Justice asked him to join, and he proved to be one of the team's most helpful teammates. He offered little when it came to super-strength, but his ability to create hard light constructs and generate hard light energy made him a top-tier hero.

6 Red Tornado Possesses Robotic Super-Strength

Red Tornado from DC Comics hovers in the sky.

Red Tornado is one of DC's best robots, and also one of Young Justice's oldest members. There at the team's founding, the Justice League encourages him to be the team's mentor. In that time span, he works with the team on multiple missions, both helping them out and reporting on the team's progress to the League.

Most of the time, people think Red Tornado only has wind-based powers, and while those have certainly become his signature, that's not his only ability. Tornado also possesses a fair amount of super-strength, courtesy of him being an android built by T. O. Morrow.

5 Impulse Is Capable Of The Infinite Mass Punch

Bart Allen AKA Impulse speeds through the city.

Impulse isn't stronger than any of the members with super-strength on Young Justice, but he possesses something many of them don't. Because the Speed Force lets users move at supersonic speeds, all speedsters are dangerous fighters who can take advantage of basic physics.

It's one of the many things some fans don't realize about the Speed Force. The faster Impulse runs, the harder he can hit an enemy. At top speeds, Impulse is capable of the Infinite Mass Punch, a strike so powerful it can deal with most threats the team may deal with.

4 Slobo Has Incredible Strength Even Though He's Not The Strongest Version Of Lobo

Slobo from Young Justice evades several armed officers.

Many thought Slobo to be the weakest of the Lobo clones. Lobo proved himself incredibly strong and kept up with Superman during multiple battles. Even a weak version of that character would be much stronger than the average human.

Although he wasn't the strongest member of the team, Slobo established himself as a powerhouse who offered the team a little extra muscle. His only real weakness came from his status as a weaker clone. Slobo's body was slowly degenerating, but even then, he had more strength than most of his enemies.

3 Naomi McDuffie Has Knocked Out Cyborg Superman

Split image of Naomi standing with the rest of Young Justice and Naomi powering up to fight.

Naomi wasn't part of Young Justice for very long, but she still counted as a valuable member, becoming one of the most powerful characters to join the team. Her super-strength allowed her to take on horrible enemies, like Cyborg Superman and Solomon Grundy, and come out on top.

Naomi may be one of the few members of the team with a greater ceiling on her powers than Cassie or Conner. She has little experience compared to either of them, but she's quickly learning on the job since moving over to the Justice League.

2 Wonder Girl Doesn't Have Superboy's Strength But Has Superior Training

Cassie Sandsmark sports her red and gold superhero costume.

Cassie's powers weren't originally hers. She found items of great mythical power and used them to augment her speed and strength. She hung around with Diana so long that she met the gods themselves, and Zeus granted her a boon.

At least, that's what Cassie was told before learning Zeus was her father. Much like her mentor Wonder Woman, Cassie was a demigod, and boasted some incredible super-strength of her own. She rarely demonstrated greater strength than Superboy, but she benefited from superior training, thanks to working with Diana and Artemis.

1 Superboy Has The Strength Of A Kryptonian

Conner Kent as Superboy referencing the meme

A clone of Superman, Conner's strength was limited at one point, his only powers being tactile telekinesis. Once his Kryptonian powers came in, he revealed he possessed the usual suite of powers Kryptonians carried. He wasn't at Superman's level, but he became the strongest member of Young Justice.

Since his older self clearly had all the powers Kryptonians did, it remained possible that Superboy would one day grow into his powers. He also maintained his tactile telekinesis powers. Not only could he use those powers as a form of strength, but Superboy never discovered their absolute limit.
