Young Justice: Phantoms has more or less completed its pre-preduction phase, according to executive producer/showrunner Greg Weisman.

When a fan asked for updates on Young Justice: Phantoms via Twitter, Weisman had a brief but informative answer. "9 episodes in the can. Five more in post. Twelve being animated overseas. Pre-production is virtually done," he wrote.

Weisman had previously given an update on Young Justice: Phantoms' pre-production process last year, saying that 24 episodes had been written in total and a large number of those episodes had completed voice recording work.. During the Young Justice - Cast Audio Play Performance and Panel at last year's DC FanDome, executive producer Brandon Vietti unveiled the Young Justice: Phantoms title card after the cast had performed a live reading of a new Young Justice episode.

Young Justice originally premiered on Cartoon Network in 2010, with its second season Young Justice: Invasion premiering two years later. Though Cartoon Network canceled Young Justice after its second season, the series was revived for a third season -- titled Young Justice: Invasion. Young Justice: Invasion premiered on the DC Universe service in 2019, and concluded in 2020. The series, created by Weisman and Vietti, focuses on the sidekicks of the Justice League as they undertake clandestine missions and battle the shadowy organization known as the Light.

Young Justice: Phantoms will stream on HBO Max. The fourth season of Young Justice does not currently have a premiere date.
