WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for "Nevermore," the season finale of Young Justice: Outsiders.

Young Justice: Outsiders has certainly pushed the envelope, with violent missions, betrayals and some intriguing leisure activities that remind us how much the series is intended for teenagers leaning toward adulthood.

However, one of the Lynchian post-credits sequences gives us another eyebrow-raising moments, as it features Lobo in a situation that portrays him as probably the most savage we've ever seen, in comics or in animation.

Some of Young Justice's post-credits sequences are connected to the episode's plot, such as the one that depicted Black Lightning and Helga Jace's nighttime tryst, while others are tangential, such as the one that showed Wolf sleeping at Superboy's home. But one came off as a running gag, showing the severed finger tip of Lobo, the intergalactic bounty hunter. He lost his finger in Episode 9, "Home Fires," after trying to kill Forager. Lobo left the digit behind on Earth after Forager faked his death to let the bounty hunter think he'd won; the closing credits showed the finger in the quarry, gathering dust.

The finger tip was then in full view two episodes later, in the closing credits of "Another Freak," although it had grown slightly larger, and displayed small protrusions, as if it were growing into a living organism. We wouldn't see it again until Episode 24, "Into the Breach," where it began to grow hair and resembled a hunched-over humanoid, which fans immediately recognized as a budding Lobo.

Readers of the Young Justice comics had previously theorized that would happen, as one of Lobo's superpowers is the ability to clone himself from drops of blood or severed body parts. One issue depicted Lobo being ripped to pieces by Darkseid's forces, only for one clone to mature oddly and join the Young Justice squad as their mechanic, Slobo. But while viewers were correct in their theory, the real Lobo arrives to keep it from coming to fruition.

The end credits of the season finale, "Nevermore," shows the cute baby Lobo turning toward the camera and chuckling, only to be stomped by the big boot of his "father." Lobo takes pleasure in snuffing the two-toothed toddler in a disturbing sequence that trumps all the stories we've witnessed before, with him attempting to torture, maim and kill heroes like Superman. The Main Man is ruthless and unforgiving, as he doesn't want to share the limelight with a clone. To make matters worse, he flicks his cigar into the bloody puddle, and what's been squished incinerates as Lobo grins and walks off-screen.

We're left wondering what this baby Lobo could have evolved into, but alas, it wasn't to be. The antihero knew he had unfinished business, and this certainly tied up loose ends.

Young Justice: Outsiders is currently streaming on DC Universe.
