The credits of Young Justice: Outsiders have certainly proven to be one of the most intriguing aspects of the series, channeling some of the abstract artistic flair of filmmakers like David Lynch as they tell their own stories.
We often think these are just scenes of locations, animals like Superboy's Wolf and tech such as Sphere and such, but it's apparent here's some hidden meaning behind these pieces. While those are yet to be deciphered in full, the latest episode, "Quiet Conversations," has an end-credits sequence that's a bit more in-your-face and, in the process, turns out to be the most provocative one to date.
This episode ends with Helga Jace, the Markovian doctor, welcoming the dying Halo back to Beast Boy's base. She ran away, depressed about her death sentence and confused regarding all the emotions stirring inside her, but thanks to Artemis and her teammates, like Tara, Halo is convinced to come back home. Helga is most relieved, as she wants to study and heal the girl, which offers up a happy ending -- for now.
But the end-credits then shows the living room of their base, inactive at night. It's clear everyone's asleep after a tough day, but upon listening closely, you hear people shushing amid objects clattering and glass breaking. The voices belong to Helga and Black Lightning, indicating they're having a sleepover. The most jaw-dropping aspect of all this frolicking comes when you then hear a pack unwrapping, which might mean they're engaging in adult activities safely.
It seems in the dead of night Helga snuck Jefferson in, as she doesn't want to set a bad example, but given the noise they're making, it wouldn't take much for the teens to put two and two together and figure out what's going on. Their voices are a dead giveaway and this comes as no surprise, since almost anytime we see the duo in this episode, they're touchy-feely. Clearly, they don't know there's a time and place for everything, and again, this naughty clip does play into how hot and heavy their romance has been since Jefferson got divorced and Helga decided to stay in America with the Outsiders to look after Brion and Tara.
We saw them at numerous dinners, in bed quite a few times and every time they leave each other, there's always a make-out session. The latter pops up earlier in this episode, when Jefferson joins Superboy and Forager to track down Metron so as to heal Cyborg. At this point, as much as it seems like they're mentors, it seems the teens are rubbing off on Helga and Jeff. Their behavior also reminds fans of when Superboy and Miss Martian got more serious in the early Young Justice episodes, jumping each other whenever the opportunity arose. Ultimately, all we can say about this late night hook-up session is let's hope Miss Martian doesn't find out, because there could be repercussions for adults who shouldn't be behaving like hormone-driven teens, especially if this occurs on a frequent basis.
