Now that a new season of Young Justice has been announced, Young Justice: Phantoms, fans have begun diving back into the series in preparation for season four. Reliving some of the series' best moments, fans have been reminded why Young Justice is generally regarded as one of the best DC shows of all time, animated and live-action.

Part of the charm of the show is its cast of diverse and entertaining characters. Young Justice touches on many elements of the DC Comics universe and brings in a whole variety of memorable heroes and villains, even if some can be annoying or downright evil.

10 Love: Halo – Violet Harper

Even if one finds her child-like innocence to be overwhelming, Halo is a kind, loyal, and determined new character that fans fell in love with in season three. Repurposing a mostly unknown hero from DC history, the writers for Young Justice did a great job breathing new life into this character.

The mystery behind Halo's identity, powers, and origin is one of the best aspects of the latest season and one cannot help but be excited to see what the future has in store for her.

9 Hate: Lagoon Boy – La'gaan

Neptune's beard! Admittedly, Lagoon Boy isn't all bad and even has a few cool moments throughout his time on the show. His role overall though is just too contrived, being the obvious obstacle between Superboy and Miss Martian getting back together.

Besides that, Lagoon Boy doesn't have much importance in the show and eventually fades off into the distance while better characters are introduced and take the spotlight. Only appearing in season 3 twice with non-speaking cameos, Lagoon Boy will not be missed.

8 Love: Aqualad – Kaldur'ahm

Aqualad is one of the most beloved characters in all of Young Justice, and with good reason. Stepping out of the spotlight from Aquaman and shedding any silly qualities his namesake might have like talking to fish, Aqualad immediately makes an impact in the series as the hopeful leader of the team.

Aqualad is powerful, intelligent, and pure of heart, helping shape the Young Justice team and, later, becoming a vital member of the Justice League as a whole in their fight to take down the Light.

7 Hate: Joker

The Joker from Young Justice

To be fair, a DC property ruining a legendary character like the Joker isn't unheard of, as seen in 2016's Suicide Squad. As DC Animation has such a solid track record with their characters, it came as a bit of a shock that Young Justice's Joker was so awful.

Unfunny, unintimidating, and more awkward than anything else, this version of the Joker is almost universally hated by the Young Justice fanbase and we're glad he stayed in season one.

6 Love: Kid Flash – Wally West

Kid Flash Young Justice Wally West

While some fans initially could do without Wally on the team due to his immature personality, he makes big strides as the series progresses. Ultimately, Wally became a fan favorite when he heroically sacrificed himself to save the planet.

A little bit of an idiot with women at first, Wally grows mentally and emotionally when he and Artemis begin a relationship together. Wally is easily one of the most transformative characters in Young Justice and that's exactly why fans love him.

5 Hate: Granny Goodness – Gretchen Goode

One of the main villains of season three, Granny Goodness is a bit of an underwhelming baddie, and her "discipline the unruly children" shtick gets old after a while. She works directly for Darkseid and that gives her some intimidation factor, but overall, fans feel like the season could have been elevated with a different villain in her role.

Granny isn't a poorly written character by any means and she adequately carries her plotline through the season, but "adequate" is about the most anyone can say about her.

4 Love: Nightwing/Robin – Dick Grayson

Nightwing's status among the fanbase is rock solid. A vital character since episode one and a founding member of the Young Justice team, fans have enjoyed watching him grow up and step out of Batman's shadow.

Lacking the superpowers that most of his peers have, Nightwing makes up for this with incredible acrobatics and fighting skill, as well as genius levels of tactics and strategy. Although he can be a bit manipulative in how he tries to control the Justice League covertly, Nightwing is an irreplaceable team member who would do anything for his friends.

3 Hate: Impulse/Kid Flash – Bart Allen

Young Justice Impulse

Much like Wally, Bart enters the scene as a comedic character, using his speed and energetic personality for laughs. The issue with him though is that he doesn't undergo a major arc as Wally does, staying the same old Bart from his first to his last appearance.

Combining his lack of development with his overused catchphrases like "feeling the mode" or "that's so crash," Bart brings more negatives than positives. To top it all off, he inherits the Kid Flash title from Wally and fails to live up to the legacy or even make an impact with it.

2 Love: Artemis Crock

artemis-young-justice

Artemis is easily one of the most well-liked characters in all of Young Justice. She stands out from her teammates by being both a badass hero who can be relied upon for the most important assignments, as well as a loyal friend and mentor who has the unique ability to empathize and connect with people from all walks of life (including a bug alien).

Fans connected even more with Artemis when she begins suffering from depression over Wally's death. Viewers would love nothing more than for Wally to return in season four and to get to see these two reunited.

1 Hate: Witch Boy – Klarion

Klarion from Young Justice

Without a doubt the most annoying and grating character in the entire show. Where to start with Klarion? He takes the trophy for having the most annoying voice of any character. He's an ageless Lord of Chaos, and yet behaves and whines like a bratty teenager.

Klarion is a powerful and important member of the Light but lacks the development that villains like Vandal Savage and Lex Luthor have been given. Perhaps his personality would be tolerable if fans could understand him a bit more, but Young Justice doesn't seem interested in giving Klarion depth. Let's hope the show gives him less screentime instead.
