According to co-showrunner Jonathan Lisco, hit drama Yellowjackets is set to turn down even darker paths in Season 2 as the characters struggle to survive.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Lisco hinted that the survivors of the plane crash and 19 months in the wilderness did much worse than cannibalism. "If we do our job right, the eating of a person will not be the most transgressive thing that these young women do in the wilderness," he said. "That's just the tip of the iceberg." Lisco also shared that Season 1 was about the teenage characters settling into their new reality, and Season 2 will see things come to a head. "Each one of them is gonna make choices that they never dreamed possible. And, and as we cut forward 25 years, we're gonna watch those terrible actions surface in ways that I would say irrevocably changed the fate of their lives."

Yellowjackets Teases Dark Turns in the Future

This is not the first time a Yellowjackets executive has hinted about darker turns in future seasons. Series creator Ashley Lyle also recently shared that more horrific revelations are coming, saying, "I guess we'll find out if there's a limit to how dark we can get." There have been no hints yet about what might be considered more shocking for audiences than cannibalism, but the second season will be picking up where the first left off, with both the events in 1996 as the all-female high school soccer team struggle to survive in the wilderness, and 25 years later as the survivors face the repercussions of their actions.

Fans are in for at least two more seasons of shocking revelations, as Showtime already renewed Yellowjackets for a third season several months in advance of the upcoming Season 2 premiere. Following the show's success after its first season premiered in November 2021, it was renewed for a second season when just five episodes had aired. The early pickup for Season 3 was reportedly linked to the annual deadline for renewing cast contracts, which is in December.
