The following contains spoilers for Blue Beetle: Graduation Day #1, on sale now from DC.

DC's Blue Beetle: Graduation Day #1 introduces the Yellow Beetle, a brand-new character who will seemingly pose as a major threat to Jamie Reyes.

Blue Beetle: Graduation Day #1 comes from writer Josh Trujillo, artist Adrián Gutiérrez, colorist Wil Quintana and letterer Lucas Gattoni. Releasing in both English and Spanish, the issue shows Jaime at a crossroads in both his personal life and superhero career as he struggles with his next steps after high school while improving his skills with the super-powered scarab suit he took from the villainous alien conquerors, the Reach. The miniseries promises both the return of the Reach and a new scarab-themed character named Yellow Beetle, both of which manage to interrupt Jaime's post-high school plans.

DC Officially Debuts Its Ultra-Dangerous Yellow Beetle

As the name suggests, Blue Beetle: Graduation Day begins with Jaime almost arriving late to his high school graduation because he was delayed fighting a supervillain named Fadeaway. Once Jaime arrives at his graduation, a threatening message from the Reach stops him in his tracks. Yellow Beetle, whose scarab seems to be placed on their stomach, makes their dramatic entrance at the end of the issue when Jamie's best friend Paco pulls up a video on his phone. In the video, a woman in El Salvador is interrupted by the sudden appearance of Yellow Beetle, who is seen menacingly lifting a car over their head. Jamie's eyes widen in terror while his sister asks, "Anyone you know?"

Blue Beetle's Series Will Introduce a New DC Locale

Blue Beetle: Graduation Day promises to have big implications for both Jaime and the wider DC Universe. The series will soon be introducing Palmera City, a brand-new DC locale, in the following issues. Solicitations for upcoming issues suggest that Jaime will be drawn to Palmera City to investigate the Yellow Beetle and their mysterious connection to The Reach, who have never appreciated Jaime using their alien technology for good instead of evil.
