The anime Yashahime is a story that takes place after the events of Inuyasha. It focuses on the daughters of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha, who try to find their place in the world without the guidance of their parents. The series can be enjoyed by people who have not seen Inuyasha, but there are some jokes that are better appreciated by those who are familiar with the original series.
This is because the original characters make a few appearances and because Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha are so similar to their parents. Things that were made common knowledge in the original series are not so commonly known in Yashahime, mainly because Towa is still unfamiliar with the world.
10 Moroha Likes The Kappa's Foot From Her Great-Grandfather
When Moroha is in the modern world, she meets her great-grandfather. He gifts her a shriveled kappa's foot, which he says brings good fortune. Unlike Kagome, who hated it so much that she immediately fed it to her cat Buyo, Moroha is touched that he would gift her something so precious.
Hearing her appreciation makes her great-grandfather burst into joyful tears, comically wailing that Kagome has such a good daughter.
9 Takechiyo Is Cowardly But A Great Transport
Takechiyo is a tanuki character that enjoys making fun of Moroha's misfortune, as she is never able to claim the bounty on many of the demons she struggles to slay. However, he is a giant coward, eager to run whenever there's the slightest hint of danger. The only way to guarantee his help is by offering him modern snacks.
Fans who have watched Inuyasha noticed that this character is similar to Hachiemon, another Tanuki who was able to transform into flying transport. Hachiemon was also a giant coward who had to be coerced into doing any real work.
8 Myoga The Flea Still Gets Smacked For Sucking Blood
Whenever he gets the chance, Myoga likes to latch onto Moroha to suck her blood, which he says is as delicious as her grandfather's. Every time he tries, he gets squished under her hand. However, this doesn't deter him.
He also likes to run away as soon as a battle starts, which Moroha isn't bothered by, seeing it as only natural. Inuyasha always smacked Myoga when he tried to suck his blood, but unlike his daughter, he'd always get irritated every time Myoga ran away.
7 Moroha Gets Set On Fire But Laughs It Off Because Her Robe Is Of The Fire Rat
When fighting against a demon named Homura, who was throwing a tantrum, Moroha gets set on fire by one of his attacks. She yelps and panics like any other person would in that situation.
It takes her a few seconds to realize that she is wearing her Robe of the Fire Rat, a piece of clothing that serves as armor and is completely fireproof. Although she acts over the top, the robe actually blocks out all of the heat.
6 Kagome's Sit Command Is Nostalgic
When Kagome first met Inuyasha, he was violent and out of control. To keep him under control, Kaede forced a bead necklace onto him. This necklace forces Inuyasha to crash into the ground every time Kagome says the word sit. Kagome uses this command, most notably after Inuyasha destroys their house while showing off his skills to another demon.
It was a swift punishment for such a thoughtless mistake.
5 Totetsu Eats Virtuous Monks But Goes After Miroku
Setsuna and Towa go to Miroku to protect him from the demon Totetsu, who had been eating a large number of virtuous monks. His son, Hisui, states that the demon won't eat Miroku because Miroku is a coward, but fans of Inuyasha know that there's a bigger reason why Miroku would never be considered virtuous.
Throughout most of his life, he proposed to every girl he met, being a notorious womanizer that got on Sango's nerves.
4 Sesshomaru And Jaken Offer Little Assistance
When the human village is under attack in the very first episode, Shippo confronts Sesshomaru and Jaken, who are casually standing on the roof of a building. He asks why they weren't helping, but this is actually normal behavior for Sesshomaru.
He rarely gets involved in human affairs, and the most notable time that he did was when he resurrected Rin. He's only willing to help others if he feels like it, but that isn't often.
3 Towa Gets Excited When She Sees A Familiar Face In The Past
In the past, Towa meets Juan, a monk that looks like a carbon copy of a singer that exists in the future. She starts to get excited, which only confuses Setsuna, Moroha, and Juan, who have no idea what celebrities are.
This meeting is reversed compared to when Kagome met Akitoki Hojo, the ancestor of one of her classmates. Hojo was the one who was excited about Kagome, and was so infatuated with her that he even went so far as to convince his wife to change her name to Kagome.
2 Meioju's Son Is 50 Years Old
The protagonists meet a turtle demon named Meifuku, and help him to avenge his father, Meioju. After helping him, they discover that he is actually 50 years old despite looking like a child. This completely shocks Towa.
Many fans, on the other hand, weren't shocked at all. It is common for demons to be far older than they look. Even Inuyasha is over 200 years old, despite looking the exact same age as Kagome.
1 Setsuna's Dismissal Of Towa's Attempts To Bond
The relationship between Setsuna and Towa is uncannily similar to Sesshomaru's relationship with Jaken. Both Sesshomaru and Setsuna are not good at showing others that they care, even when they really do, and they have gone off without their traveling partner without warning, much to the horror of both Towa and Jaken.
Towa tries to remain on Setsuna's good side and shows her that she cares about her as a sister, but her attempts sometimes irritate Setsuna.
