Produced and animated by studio Sunrise, which is now known as Bandai Namco Filmworks, Yashahime is a sequel series to the classic anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's Inuyasha manga. The story follows Towa and Setsuna, the twin daughters of Rin and Sesshomaru, and Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, as they attempt to reunite with their parents and recover lost memories. Directed by Teruo Sato (Inuyasha the Movie 4: Fire on the Mystic Island) and written by Katsuyuki Sumisawa (Inuyasha the Movie 2: The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass) with music by Kaoru Wada (Inuyasha the Movie: Swords of an Honorable Ruler), the series stars Azusa Tadokoro (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) as Moroha, Mikako Komatsu (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Setsuna and Sara Matsumoto (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) as Towa.

Yashahime's English dub, which will play on Toonami, features Erica Mendez (The Rising of the Shield Hero) as Towa, Kira Buckland (So I'm a Spider, So What?) as Setsuna and Morgan Berry (Tokyo Ghoul) as Moroha. David Kaye, Kira Tozer, Brenna O'Brien and Richard Ian Cox all reprised their iconic roles from the Inuyasha anime series for the sequel.

The first season of Yashahime originally aired in Japan from October 2020 to March 2021, and the second season initially ran from October 2021 to March 2022. Season 1 placed ninth at Animage's Anime Grand Prix in 2020, and the series was nominated in the Best Character Design category at the Crunchyroll Anime awards in 2021. It is currently unclear if the anime will be greenlit for a third season. However, the story of the half-demon princesses continues in the Yashahime manga spinoff by Takashi Shiina, which is serialized in Shogakukan's Shōnen Sunday S magazine. As of May, two volumes of the story have been produced with the first volume being released in English by Viz Media last month.

While Inuyasha fans will have to wait a little longer to see Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon's second season on Toonami, both Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Hulu and Crunchyroll.
