Though he only made his first feature film appearance in 2017, Aquaman actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has already worked with a number of prolific filmmakers. Now, Abdul-Mateen II has his eyes set on a collaboration with another famous director.

According to an interview with GQ Middle East, Abdul-Mateen II wants to collaborate with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. "I haven’t worked with him yet, but I know once we get together, we’ll create something special," said Abdul-Mateen II.

Abdul-Mateen II did not specify what kind of project he'd want to work with Coogler on. Currently, Coogler is writing the screenplay for Black Panther II, which he will also direct.

Abdul-Mateen II made his acting debut in the 2016 TV show The Get Down. Since then, Abdul-Mateen II has played David Kane/Black Manta in Aquaman and had a supporting role in Us. He also portrayed Cal Abar/Doctor Manhattan on the acclaimed TV show Watchmen. In terms of his future projects, Abdul-Mateen II will play the lead role in Nia DaCosta's Candyman and will portray Bobby Seale in The Trial of the Chicago 7. He has also been cast in an unknown role in The Matrix 4.
