Y: The Last Man was a powerful and intense graphic novel series, and it's adaptation has been a long time coming. Fans have been looking forward to the possibility of an adaptation since the graphic novels came out (almost two decades ago now). But that adaptation has been a slow process, with several cancellations along the way.

In desperation for more about Y: The Last Man, we've gone ahead and done our own fan casting. What does that mean? We've picked the actors that we'd love to see play the characters from Y: The Last Man. This listing is in no way official (but man would we freak if that changed). And we're only going to cover ten of the more iconic characters from the series. Otherwise, we'll be here all day.

10 10. Beth (from Crooksfield) – Jessica Rothe

Let's start with Beth from Cooksfield, AKA 'the other Beth' aka Beth II. This is the character that tempts Yorick away from his search of his girlfriend – the original Beth. This temptation was enough to leave her pregnant, where she later gave birth to the first girl born after the disaster.

And we personally think that Jessica Rothe has what it takes to play Beth's character. Not only does she look the part, but she's played a variety of characters, proving that she could pull off Beth's character flawlessly.

9 9. Hero Brown – Jewel Staite

Hero Brown is Yorick's sister, and she has one of the most complicated arcs of the series. She goes through hell and back, and has had to build herself up again after realizing all of the mistakes she made. She's a nuanced character, one full of character growth and development.

And this may seem like an odd choice, but we think that Jewel Staite has the acting chops to pull this character off. It's a different sort of role for her – and that's not a bad thing. She certainly looks the part, and while she can pull off bubbly and happy, we also have faith that she could pull off Hero's particular sense of confusion and anger.

8 8. Jennifer Brown – Jessica Walter

Jennifer Brown is Yorick's mother, but she's more than that as well. She's better known as Representative Brown, but she later gets a different title. After the events that caused the death of nearly every man on the planet, Brown is promoted to Secretary of the Interior. She's a determined and driven woman, one who wasn't afraid to make choices and stick with them.

Jessica Walter is our favored choice for the actress to play Jennifer Brown's role. She can pull off sophisticated, angry, and everything in between. And that's exactly what this role would call for. Her massive amount of experience in both acting and voice acting is proof enough that she would be the perfect fit.

7 7. Allison Mann – Claudia Kim

Allison Mann is the leading scientist of the series, and without a doubt, one of the reasons why Yorick survived as long as he did. She's a geneticist who before the disaster had been working on cloning. She spent most of the series carrying guilt from her belief that she somehow caused everything that happened.

And we think that Claudia Kim is the perfect character to bring Allison Mann to life. We've already seen Claudia Kim in the role of a brilliant scientist in recent times, thanks to Avengers: Age of Ultron. And we have little doubt that she could rock this role as well.

6 6. Rose Copen – Ruby Rose

Rose Copen is a complicated character. She joins the cast of characters and becomes Allison Mann's lover, but it's later revealed that she has had an ulterior motive the whole time. She's part of the Australian navy as well, and a seriously competent fighter when needed.

We can think of no actress better suited for this role other than Ruby Rose. She's perfect for the role. And we're not just saying that because of the name similarity, though that is a funny coincidence. Rose has what it takes to pull off the complex nature of Rose's character, and she would do a delightful job of it as well.

5 5. Alter Tse'elon – Ayelet Zurer

Alter Tes'elon is one of the antagonists of the series, though that description doesn't do her character justice. For she is significantly more complicated than that. She targets Yorick for being the last man alive, for a few different reasons. And she's a constant threat throughout the series.

Ayelet Zurer is perhaps the best pick possible to play the role of Alter. We've seen her play a myriad of characters, including some that were not exactly angels. And we know she would do an excellent job portraying Alter's disturbing backstory and her determination perfectly.

4 4. Natalya Zamyatin – Svetlana Khodchenkova

Natalya Zamyatin is a Russian agent, and she finds her way into the series when it's revealed that there's a chance that there are astronauts alive in space. She's seeking to find and retrieve the Russian cosmonaut, should he still be alive. But she ends up sticking around, playing an important role later in the series.

We believe that Svetlana Khodchenkova would make the ideal casting for Natalya's character. First, she absolutely looks the part. And we're sure she would sound the part as well (which is fairly important, all things considered). She's also got the experience required to make a believable fighter.

3 3. Beth DeVille – Imogen Poots

Beth DeVille is actually not a character that gets a whole lot of screen time, relatively speaking. She's Yorick's girlfriend and is the reason he starts his quest to try and get to Australia. All because he desperately wants to find her again. She managed to survive the events that happened after the disaster, but she's grown up a lot as a person in the meantime.

Imogen Poots is a British actress and one who could easily pull off the love interest of Yorick. We can easily see him going above and beyond to find her again. She can also handle some of the more intricate parts of this character.

2 2. Agent 355 – Danai Gurira

Agent 355 is the only name ever known to the woman assigned to protect Yorick. She's part of the Culper Ring, and she's intricately tied to the events of the disaster/plague. But she's also a competent and dangerous fighter, as she has proven time and time again throughout the series.

There's no doubt that Danai Gurira would be the perfect fit for Agent 355. We already know that she can believably film fighting scenes, but it's more than that. She's got the attitude and personality that we'd want to see in Agent 355. So cross your fingers for this casting!

1 1. Yorick Brown – Andrew Garfield

And finally, the man of the hour, Yorick Brown. He's the main character of the series and one of the only surviving males after the plague. Yorick is an interesting character, he's charming and clever, while also dealing with massive amounts of survivor's guilt (and more).

And we personally believe that Andrew Garfield could pull off that complex set of emotions found in Yorick's character. He'd nail the quirkier parts of Yorick's background, like his training to be an escapist. But he'd also showcase the depression and suicidal tendencies that Yorick sometimes displays.
