For decades, the romance between Mystique and Destiny had to be kept mostly in the background in terms of subtext rather than being out in the forefront (Destiny being killed off in 1989 didn't help, of course). That changed in a big way in the Krakoan Age, with Destiny one of the many mutants who were resurrected, and Destiny and Mystique's romance has been a major part of the world of the X-Men in Krakoa. They are now getting married, and we get a glimpse of the chaos surrounding their nuptials in this CBR exclusive preview of next week's X-Men: The Wedding Special #1.
X-Men: The Wedding Special #1 has a main story by Kieron Gillen and Rachel Stott, with back-up stories by Tini Howard and Phil Sevy, Tate Bombal and Emilio Pilliu, Wyatt Kennedy and Jenn St. Onge, and Yoon Ha Lee and Stephen Byrne, which sees a variety of diverse examinations of different characters reacting to the wedding, from the main characters involved (naturally) to Wolverine, Betsy Braddock and Rachel Summers, and Mystique and Destiny's new son-in-law, Gambit.

EXCLUSIVE: New X-Men Series Cover Shows Marvel's Mutants in Battle
Marvel's upcoming X-Men series sees the mutants rebuilding after the end of the Krakoan Age -- and a new cover shows two powerhouses in battle.
In the preview pages, we see Destiny and Mystique get ready for the wedding, while visited by Rogue and Nightcrawler (who just recently discovered that Destiny is his biological mother). We then see new couple, Betsy "Captain Britain" Braddock and Rachel "Askani" Summers, deal with their first major social event as a couple. Wolverine, who has a long and tangled history with Mystique, asks a group of young mutants for advice on a wedding gift.
The previews suggest that Gambit might have some problems with the thieves guild on the way to the wedding, while Emma Frost offers up some counseling help for the couple ahead of their wedding. The preview pages are all mostly the first pages of the stories, so there is a lot of room for surprises next week!
