Ororo Munroe is the omega-level mutant known as Storm who has been both a long-time member and dedicated leader of the X-Men since a new international version of the team formed in 1975's Giant-Size X-Men #1– which reignited the team's popularity and launched decades of growth for the members of the X-Men.

This popularity has led to quite a few appearances for the team outside of the comics, with successful animated and live-action adaptations bringing the characters to life in bold new ways. Unfortunately, despite Storm's importance to the team, she has rarely been done justice in any adaptation of the X-Men, despite multiple appearances across various mediums.

12 The Super Hero Squad Show (2009)

Marvel's kid-friendly The Super Hero Squad Show didn't regularly feature a lot of the X-Men besides Wolverine, though the team did make a few appearances throughout the series, with "Mysterious Mayhem at Mutant Academy" including most of the team.

Storm (voiced by Cree Summer) appeared in her classic outfit and was a member of the graduating class of X-Men that included Wolverine. She also revealed that Black Panther was her boyfriend, highlighting the comic romance between the characters.

11 Pryde Of The X-Men (1989) & Earlier

While the X-Men didn't have their own animated series for decades after Marvel began adapting its characters into cartoons, the team would appear a few times in other series, including Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, voiced by Kathy Garver and Anne Lockhart.

Andi Chapman would voice the character when Storm appeared alongside the X-Men in the 1989 TV pilot Pryde of the X-Men, which featured the character in both black and white versions of her classic comic costume.

10 X-Men (2000)

X-Men-Film-Storm

Marvel's mutants helped kicked off the new age of comic book film adaptations in 2000 with the live-action X-Men, which starred Halle Berry as Storm alongside a small team of X-Men that included Cyclops, Jean Grey, and new members Wolverine and Rogue.

Storm was relegated to the background of the film and Berry's portrayal of the character had more than a few issues, including a distracting attempt at an African accent and an underwhelming display of her powerful abilities.

9 X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)

Fox rebooted the X-Men film franchise and released a prequel trilogy that introduced younger versions of the original trilogy's team, which included a new take on Storm that was played by Alexandra Shipp, who reprised the role for 2019's X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Unfortunately, while Shipp did an adequate job portraying Storm, the film didn't give her character much to work with, and she was again pushed to the background in the packed adaptation of the "Dark Phoenix Saga."

8 X-Men: Evolution (2000)

2000's X-Men: Evolution aired on KidsWB! and reimagined Xavier's team of mutants as high school students who hid their powers while attending public school, though they also trained to be X-Men at the Xavier Institute.

While Storm (voiced by Kirsten Williamson) was a fairly faithful adaptation of the comic character, she remained at her normal adult age as a teacher at the Institute, which somewhat separated her from the rest of the team, which included her nephew Evan Daniels/Spyke on the team instead.

7 X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)

X-Men Last Stand Cast

Halle Berry was given a more central role in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand as she stood up to take on the leadership of the X-Men after the loss of Professor Xavier, Cyclops, and Jean Grey over the course of the film. Unfortunately, The Last Stand suffered from multiple storylines and numerous new characters that drowned out the original X-Men, and Storm's powerful mutant abilities were at their worst despite her increased role in the film.

6 X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

Alexandra Shipp first took on the role of Ororo Munroe in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, which took place in the 80s and followed the awakening of the ancient mutant villain known as En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse, who sought mutant allies.

Storm's origins as a street thief in Cairo were explored on the big screen for the first time and her abilities were given a powerful upgrade, though she was quickly turned into one of Apocalypse's Horsemen before betraying him to join the X-Men. Storm wore two original takes on her costume in the film and featured her iconic mohawk.

5 Wolverine And The X-Men (2009)

An interesting version of Storm (voiced by Susan Dalian) would eventually join the reformed team in 2009's Wolverine and the X-Men, which saw the team attempting to stop the development of a dark possible future timeline.

While Storm's power levels and abilities are mentioned frequently throughout the series. she rarely featured in the battles and her characterization was far from the powerful leader of the X-Men fans knew and loved. This series also introduced a romantic relationship with Angel prior to his Archangel transformation, which was unique to the series.

4 X-Men Anime (2011)

2011 saw the release of X-Men Anime, which introduced a unique version of the team that was inspired by both the New X-Men and Astonishing X-Men comic runs, and included Storm (voiced by Aya Hisakawa and Danielle Nicolet) on the roster in an original team costume.

This version of Storm was one of the most powerful that had ever been adapted and showcased the destructive side of her abilities in a number of scenes. Storm (voiced by Yayoi Sugaya) also appears in 2014's Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers alongside the X-Men in an original costume.

3 X-Men: Days Of Future Past (2014)

Storm-Days-of-Future-Past

2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past would feature Halle Berry's final appearance as Storm, as the film explored two eras of the X-Men in the past and the future that combined the respective franchises to stop the rising threat of the Sentinels.

Storm appeared in the dark future as one of the last surviving X-Men, and she displayed her powers by taking out an entire fleet of advanced Sentinels before she was killed. Deleted scenes highlighted a romance between Storm and Wolverine, and she also appeared in the new hopeful future created by the alteration of the timeline.

2 X2: X-Men United (2003)

Storm in X2: X-Men United

While Halle Berry's portrayal of Storm in the other films of the franchise each failed to capture the essence and power of the character, 2003's X2: X-Men United gave Storm a much-needed do-over from the first film.

Her costume, hair, and accent were altered for her return in the sequel, and her mutant abilities were given the spotlight when she created a massive supercell of tornadoes to protect the Blackbird that she was also piloting, one of the highlights of her live-action appearances.

1 X-Men: The Animated Series (1992)

STORM APPEARANCES - X-Men The Animated Series

Storm (voiced by Alison Sealy-Smith) was one of the main members of the team that appeared in 1992's hit X-Men: The Animated Series, which featured the modern redesigns of the team by Jim Lee that appeared in 1991's best-selling X-Men #1.

This version of Storm was an incredibly powerful and dedicated leader whose origins were well-explored, including the death of her parents that caused her claustrophobia, which was hardly touched on in any other adaptation. She would guest star on Spider-Man: The Animated Series, where she was also voiced by Iona Morris.
