Writer Chris Claremont says the original "Days of Future Past" prequel story included in Marvel Made Paragon Collection: Chris Claremont Premier Bundle does more than lead into the seminal X-Men saga.

Claremont told IGN that the 20-page Uncanny X-Men #140.5 weaves in multiple alternate futures for the team and includes characters created after "Days of Future Past," which appeared in Uncanny X-Men #140-141 (January-February 1981).

"We are adding a story or a chapter that puts it in a more contemporary context," Claremont explained. "It allows people who may know the original story quite comprehensively to see a surprise element that perhaps they hadn't considered before, and that I haven't had the chance to present before. And in this case, I think it's really cool. I think Salvador Larroca did a bang-up job visually, and it allows a greater perspective on how the events of "Days of Future Past" came about."

The story also references sequel tale "Days of Future Present" that ran in 1990's annuals for Fantastic Four, The New Mutants, X-Factor and The Uncanny X-Men. Time traveler Bishop also appears, as do Rachel Summers and Sage, who weren't part of the Marvel Universe in 1981. Bishop's journey to the past is framed in the context of "Days of Future Past."

The slipcase collection includes several of Claremont's key X-Men stories and multiple extras.

The Marvel Made Paragon Collection: Chris Claremont Premier Bundle is available for pre-order now and sells for $199 USD.
