The two most recurring members of the Brotherhood of Mutants would be Pyro and the Blob. Both mutants have been members of the various incarnations of the Brotherhood since X-Men no. 141 back in 1981. Despite the long history of both characters, they tend to be ignored when discussing memorable X-Men villains. This is a shame as both mutants are surprisingly dangerous.

This article will seek to right this wrong by examining how these two Mutants are surprisingly dangerous combatants. This will be done by discussing five reasons either Mutant is the most dangerous member of the Brotherhood of Mutants.

10 Pyro: Creates Construct Of Fire

Pyro's mutant power is that of pyrokinesis, meaning that he can control fire with his mind. One of Pyro's most distinctive uses of this power is he can create a construct of fire that mimics animals. Most commonly Pyro would create constructs that look and act like giant birds of prey.

Pyro's construct also had a similar solidness to the creature that it's mimicking. So a fire construct that looks like a giant bird can grasp an object in its talon, giving Pyro's power a use beyond simply combat.

9 Blob: Nigh Invulnerable

Blob is mutant not to underestimate due to his obese appearance. His skin is more elastic and tougher than the average human. This means that Blob's skin cannot be punctured by most objects and can also absorb the energy of any physical object fired at him. The zenith of this power was that Blob was able to survive being hit by a meteorite at terminal speed.

This invulnerability combined with Blob being unable to feel pain like a normal person makes the Blob a hard mutant to defeat through conventional means. The only ways that seem to stop the Blob are through hitting with a direct beam of energy or hitting him in the eye.

8 Pyro: Can Instenify Any Fire Under His Control

Pyro's pyrokinesis has another aspect that makes him a dangerous combatant. That aspect is that Pyro can intensify any fire that is under his mental control. This makes Pyro dangerous in that he could use a small lighter to create a fire large to consume an entire building.

This makes Pyro very dangerous to face in combat as he could turn a couple of embers on a person into a fire that could consume their entire body. Overall Pyro is an opponent not to underestimate anywhere close to a fire.

7 Blob: Can Redirect Object With His Body

Blob's ability to absorb the energy of any object hitting him has uses beyond just for protecting himself.  That use being that Blob can fire back any projectile that hits him. While The Blob can expel projectile from his at only half the energy that it hit him with, it allows the Blob to return fire as his opponent.

This power also makes the Blob a dangerous combatant to face in close range combat.  The Blob's projectile redirection power can also recoil any physical attack done towards him back at his opponent.

6 Pyro: Can Control Fire At A Long Range

Another dangerous aspect of Pyro's pyrokinesis is that he can control any fire within a hundred yards. While Pyro has to see the fire before gaining control of it, he can still control it when he goes out of his sight. The practical use of this ability is that he can start a fire in a building and intensify it once he gets out of the building.

This ability also synergizes well with Pyro's other ability. For example, his ability to create constructs out of fire gains more utility with his ability to control them from a longer range. This led to Pyro being able to use a bird construct to carry an object from outside of his line of sight.

5 Blob: He Can Trap Anything That Touches His Body

Blob's ability to redirect any physical attack back on its sender is not the only thing that makes him a dangerous combatant to face against in a physical confrontation. Blob can also trap anything that comes into contact with his skin. This allows Blob to trap any person that tries to hit him, allowing him to retaliate on how own terms.

This ability to trap objects in his skin also works well with his object redirection powers. Instead of having to instantly shoot back anything that hits his body, he can choose to fire back at whatever time of his choosing.

4 Pyro: Invulnerable To Any Fire Under His Control

Pyro burns everything

Pyro has the required secondary power when it comes to controlling fire. That power being that Pyro is invulnerable to any fire under his mental control. This power helps Pyro dealt with most of the problems that resulted from his ability to intensify a fire. Mainly in that this invulnerability prevents him from accidentally hurting himself when he turns a small flame into a gigantic inferno.

This power, however, does not protect him from any fire not under his mental control. To deal with this problem, Pyro wears an insulated suit to protect him from any fire not under his mental control at the time.

3 Blob: Has Limb-Stretching Powers

Recently, Blob has gotten a new power. When he was repowered by the Mothervine drug, Blob gain a secondary mutation in that he could now stretch his limbs. The only problem being that his unfamiliarity with this ability has caused him to liquify on several occasions.

Once Blob gains control of this limb-stretching power, it will make him even more of a threat than he already is. Mainly in that the power will make the Blob become as much as a threat at a distance as he is up close.

2 Pyro: Utilize Flamethrowers

A weakness of Pyro's pyrokinesis is that he can only control fire, not create it. To overcome this weakness, Pyro has equipped himself with a pair of flamethrowers. These flamethrowers not only give Pyro a weapon that is great with dealing with a large number of foes but allows him to use his power whenever he pleases.

The flamethrower allows Pyro to easily create the amount of fire he needs to create whatever construct he wants. It also allows him to quickly create a large amount of fire in intense combat situations. Overall Pyro's flamethrower makes his power a lot more dangerous than it would be without them.

1 Blob: Super-Strength

While Blob appears at first to not have much in physical strength, his mutation has granted him a superhuman level of strength. Not only does this power allow Blob to lift a heavy object and use them as an impromptu weapon, but it also allows Blob to hit opponents with a lot of force.

This ability not only makes him a tough opponent to deal with in a street fight but also works well with his other powers. Primarily Blob's super-strength and his new limb stretching power allows him to fight at a longer range without his opponent having already shot something at him.
