The news comes as gaming companies adjust their marketing strategies to debut new consoles and games following the cancellation of E3. Xbox said they would host a digital event to make up for its canceled press conference. It is unclear if this is the event that was referenced or if another event will take place at a later date.

Aside from Microsoft, other companies are adjusting to the new reality as well. Ubisoft released its new trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla earlier today. The gaming company has traditionally unveiled Assassin's Creed trailer at previous E3 events.

The Xbox Series X was announced in December 2019 at the Game Awards. The new console will include a new wireless controller and feature backwards compatibility for all four generations of Xbox consoles.

Xbox Series X, along with the new controller, is scheduled for a Holiday 2020 release.
