Gamers with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can soon claim three months of Marvel Unlimited through their accounts.

In a video released today, Marvel Entertainment revealed the deal with Xbox, showcasing clips from Marvel's Avengers alongside images taken from Marvel comics. Boasting that players can now "unlock the Marvel Universe with Marvel Unlimited," the trailer teases viewers with pictures of the most popular heroes that appear both in the comics and in Marvel's Avengers. For three months, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can access the Marvel Unlimited library for free, reading as many of the 29,000+ digital comics currently available on the service.

According to the video's fine print, this offer is only available to new Marvel Unlimited subscribers and must be claimed by April 31 and redeemed by June 30. After the three months conclude, the subscription automatically renews at the current rate, which is currently $9.99 a month or $69.99 annually, plus tax where applicable. Whether it renews at the monthly or annual price is not specified. Aside from Xbox, Marvel Unlimited is available to read on iPhone, iPad, Android devices, and the web.

Such a deal could contribute to the ongoing battle for dominance between Xbox and PlayStation. While PlayStation 5 became a runaway success following its release in 2020, the Xbox Series X|S suffers the stigma of being the most complained about gaming console in the world. However, what Xbox does have over PlayStation is its Game Pass. This allows users to play an extensive range of classic games released for the original Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One for $14.99 a month, with news games added to the service every few weeks. Rumors suggest PlayStation is currently developing a similar service that would fold into its current passes, including PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus.

Although PlayStation has plans to release its own Sony Game Pass, it isn't clear whether Xbox needs to worry about the competition. Due to Xbox's ownership under Microsoft, subscribers with an Xbox Game Pass can download games from the service onto PCs as well as Xbox, something PlayStation likely won't be able to mimic beyond PlayStation Now's ability to stream games to PC. Beyond that, there is this new deal with Marvel Entertainment, and it is unclear if PlayStation can also offer a deal for access to Marvel Unlimited once it releases its version of the Game Pass.

Marvel Unlimited is available now on iPhone, iPad, Android devices, the web. It is not yet visible on Xbox Game Pass but is expected to be available shortly.
