James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are together again as Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto in new set photos from next year's X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

The duo, which first starred as the classic X-Men characters in 2011's X-Men: First Class, are the focus of set photos as the sequel continues reshoots for its February release sharing a cup of tea over a friendly game of chess at an outdoor cafe.

Dark Phoenix began reshoots late last month to "polish the film" and are expected to conclude by the end of the month.

Taking place in the 90s while adapting Chris Claremont and John Byrne's classic X-Men storyline of the same name, the upcoming sequel is the fourth time Fassbender has portrayed the X-Men antagonist after 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past and 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse. It is the fifth time McAvoy has portrayed Professor X after reprising the role in a silent cameo in this year's Deadpool 2 after appearing alongside Fassbender in the previous films.
