"Nikita" star Xander Berkeley will appear in a mystery role during the second half of the "The Walking Dead's" upcoming sixth season, according to TV Line.

Though his role is unknown at this time, the report makes it clear that Berkeley will not play Negan; however, the characters will be similar in personality, as Berkeley's role will be just as egotistical and care just as much about self-preservation. The character is said to "relish the superiority that comes with being in control, but he plays it off with a car salesman-type charm."

Additionally, Berkeley is in for the long haul. Despite the fact he will debut during the second half of the season, his deal has a series-regular option for season seven.

Based on the Image Comics series of the same name and created by Robert Kirkman, the sixth season of "The Walking Dead" is scheduled to debut with a 90-minute episode Oct. 11 on AMC.
