Since it was dropped last week, fans have been eagerly mashing up the distinct style of "Logan's" first trailer with all sorts of X-related video. Earlier this week we saw what it would look like if the '90s cartoon (and "X-Men: Evolution") was set to the pained sounds of Johnny Cash's "Hurt," and now YouTube user Sam Ibrahim has taken the "Logan" formula and applied it to 2003's "X2: X-Men United." The trailer even goes a step further and uses the black and white style that's popped up in all of "Logan's" set pics.
The mash-up actually makes quite a bit of sense when you think about it; after being introduced to Jackman's Wolverine in 2000's "X-Men," the Bryan Singer-directed sequel dove fairly deep into Logan's origin story. It showed us more of Weapon X, including the shady organization's headquarters, and gave us Logan's first real berserker rage scene during the attack on Xavier's Mansion. While "X2" was an X-Men movie, it really shined a light on Wolverine. But Logan's not the only character to get the B&W treatment; Johnny Cash is also singing about Rogue and Iceman's doomed romance, Jean's surging power and Nightcrawler's tragic scars.
Directed by James Mangold, written by Michael Green, Scott Frank, James Mangold and David James Kelly, and starring Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Dafne Keen and Stephen Merchant, “Logan” arrives in theaters on March 3, 2017.
