Marvel's X-Treme X-Men will return for a new limited series from Chris Claremont and Salvador Larroca this November.

Announced at San Diego Comic-Con on July 22, Marvel's X-Treme X-Men #1 comes from writer Claremont and artist Larroca. The new five-issue limited series brings back the popular X-Men team Claremont and Larroca originally worked on in 2001 with a line-up including Bishop, Sage, Gambit, Rogue, Rachel Summers, Storm and Wolverine. Together, the team will defend Kitty Pride from Ogun, Wolverine's former mentor who was created by Claremont and Al Milgrom and first appeared in 1984's Kitty Pryde and Wolverine #1.

X-Treme X-Men Returns Under Claremont And Larroca's Control

The synopsis for the new series reads, "THE X-TREME TEAM IS BACK! Legendary X-scribe Chris Claremont reunites with artistic dynamo Salvador Larroca for an all-new story set just after the groundbreaking original run of X-TREME X-MEN! A powerful psychic attack on KITTY PRYDE from her old enemy OGUN brings the X-Treme team back together for a high-stakes mission…but what secret is Ogun hiding, and will even the combined might of BISHOP, SAGE, GAMBIT, ROGUE, RACHEL SUMMERS, STORM and WOLVERINE be enough to stop his insidious plan? The X-citement starts here, with the kickoff to the arc that will have wide-reaching implications for some of your favorite X-characters!"

Marvel also announced an upcoming X-Treme variant cover series which will debut in November. The series includes variant covers for Captain America: Symbol of Truth #7 (created by Ken Lashley), Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #6 (created by Nic Klein), Avengers #62 (created by Mike McKone) and Carnage #8 (created by Jonboy Meyers).

The X-Treme X-Men's first series debuted in 2001 and ran for 46 issues. Claremont wrote all 46 of them, while Larroca did the art for the first 24 and Igor Kordey for the other 22. The series follows a team of X-Men -- the initial roster being Storm, Rogue, Gambit, Beast, Bishop, Psylocke, Sage and Thunderbird -- as they embark on all-new adventures following Claremont's X-Men run. Other popular characters such as Cannonball and Sunspot also appear throughout the series, which ran until 2004. A second volume of X-Treme X-Men followed in 2012 from writer Greg Park. Spinning off of Park's Astonishing X-Men storyline, the series ran for 13 issues and concluded in 2013.

X-Treme X-Men #1 features cover art by Larroca and variant cover art by Chrissie Zullo, Phil Noto and Carlos Gómez. The issue releases in November from Marvel.
